Help Please: Putting New engine together with different Pulley....Timing??

I have picked up another Series 5 Turbo II block which i am about to put together having done some porting. The only problem is that i dont have the original front pulley so i will have to use my old one which is a series 4 block.

I have heard that its not a good idea to swap pulleys about as the timing marks will be different so i want to start a fresh making new marks or at least checking the ones that are there to see if they match.

FYI The engine is not fitted yet.

I have searched the forum and found an article about finding top dead centre but i really need to get this right, i'm looking for 400 + rwhp so there wont be a lot of margin for error.

So can some one tell me if the following is the correct way, i have put what i think i need to do to save you guys some typing

With the front cover in place i need to line up an apex seal in the top /trailing plug hole on the rear rotor, mark the front pulley inline with the little spike in the front cover. rotate the engine clockwise (looking from the front) until the same seal is visible in the lower/leading plug hole.

This is the bit where i am confused, do i line it up with the middle of the lower plug hole or when its at the bottom of the hole????

I then make a mark again in line with the spike on the pulley

Half way between the two marks is top dead centre. Line the spike up with the middle mark by turning the engine backwards

Take my CAS and line up the little dimple in the cog with the little raised bit just above it on the body of the CAS.

Slide the CAS into the front cover and secure it in place.

FYI I'm using an Apexi Power FC and will be using this on my new engine.

Where abouts do i need to twist the crank angle sensor and do i need make the 2nd mark on the pulley (5 degrees advanced IIRC).

What am i looking for with a timing light??? and does the Apexi adjust the timing as i asume it must do on the FD which is whats its for.

Thanks for you help.
