free time to work on my car

sup guys, im back... well i just finished finals and its also the holiday so i have time to work on my baby. its a 90 gxl.

things you should know, car has been sitting for about 2-3 months without being started. also i like stock and i like reliability.

what i want to do first is get all the electrical issues dealt with. so if you could point out what i should maintanece that would be great.

i want to...

maintanece all wireing harnesses,
check all plugs, connectors,
resolder or fix any needed relays, fuses, capasitors, etc,
basically do a thorough check on the wires so i dont have to worry about electrical problems in the future.

i was also looking at the wires in my engine bay and they seem to be real stiff, like they are about to break if i bend them a little. i know that these cars are old and thinks break due to time. i just want to know if there was some sort of chemical i could buy at a certain store to help them last a little longer. sorry if im not being clear and thanks in advance.

Get new, thick gauge wire for your Engine/Chassis Ground, your Battery to starter and fusebox, and your Alternator to fusebox. And fusebox to ignition circuit. THEN start diagnosing any electrical problems. I did it on my S4, i'm sure it's nearly the same with your S5. Here's a link to my writeup.

aight so im on to the next fix which i think is a must for anyone in my situation. i want to redo my OPM (MOP theyre the same right?) system and if possible, make it more efficient. what i mean by that is
1) can i make it (or mod it to) pump more oil, and maybe
2) better up the flow by adding thicker hoses (what do you perfer as a replacement/upgrade) so that
3) the injecters (can i clean them) flow/squirt/cycle/REcycle more consitantly.

basically i just want the IT (the OPM, luburcation system) more reliable. i dont want to premix because i dont race on the regular.

the only thing I would do to your MOP is replace the yellowed plastic 15 year old lines that connect the injectors themsleves to the MOP body...they are fairly in expensive from Mazda and if one of those babies blow on you going down the road the your in for some trouble....there are SS ones I saw in a RX tuner a while back but I can't remember if they were mazda speed or what...

no you can't really improve the performance of your MOP - only make it less likely to break down (otherwise known as maintenance)

would you recommend the ss ones over the oem replacements? i would think the ss ones are wider in width resulting in better flow.

and is it possible to clean the oil injectors?

dont know about the lines. The injectors you can clean off if you want, may have a little build-up on them. Also, while they are out, check to make sure they only flow one direction; forwards. If not, replace them.

Page 7 of lubrication section of the FSM, it actually shows someone blowing through it to make sure it works in the way it should, try to suck air in through it.... if you can, replace it. Crude but effective.
