Exclamation frantic!

somthings wrong with my 7 and im not sure what! *crys* i go out to start it today, hasnt been run for like 2 days.. now i know one problem, my fan belt is loose, so i have to tighten that, but when i last ran it, i put a fuel system cleaner in it, and then let it run for a lil bit, i put it in because my car had been sitting b4 i bought it, so i thought "couldnt hurt it" well now, i go out to start my car and its low on gas, because i cant drive it in the winter, but i go out there, and it trys to start, so i go to the gas station, get some gas in a gas can and put it in it, like, 2-3 gallons, then when i start it, it sounds weird as hell, never sounded like this b4, i rev it, and it like, bogs down, then revs, and it sputs! help me guys! please!!!!

ok, *calming down* i put some of that gum out fuel system cleaner in it, but i didnt have a full tank of gas, because its not street going yet, (no plates until spring)so i just drive it around my property, well, i put some of that stuff in it, and then i didnt run it for like, a day, well my friend comes over, and hes like, i wanna hear your exhaust, so we go out, and i go to start it, and it took 2 try to start it, when it started, i hear a squeal, and it smokes out the exhaust, smells like gas, but its happend b4, so i shut it right off, and open my hood, and my fan belt is loose, i must have not got it tight enough when i changed it..so then, i try to go start it again, wont start, so i figure, its outa gas, i go get some, only a couple gallons tho, so i put it in, and start it up, and when i rev it, there is like a pause, b4 it actually revs up, and it is idling ruff now, after i put that stuff in it... so now im all scared that i broke it or somthing...

My guess is you need to change your plugs. Starting and stopping your engine without warming it up is REALLY bad for your motor.

Change your plugs and get back to us.

Chill. Chances are the stuff you put in didn't do anything. I don't think that your prob is b/c of it. There's such a thing as coincidence, 'member?

I think that what J-Rat is trying to say is that your current plugs are fouled (or maybe just plain busted.) If you can't replace them, try cleaning them.

Pull the plugs. Spray the business ends with carb cleaner. Then tap the business ends against your wrist a few times to try to knock out any goop that might be inside.

Then take a lighter to each of the plugs to burn off/evaporate the carb cleaner. Re-install. Try to start her and see how she runs.

Your profile says it's an 88. Turbo?

If she's still struggling, use the Search. 2nd Gen Forum only, titles only, keywords -> rough idl*

1. Calm down

2. You probably flooded it pretty badly with all those short starts

3. Adjust your TPS (Search!)

4. Properly tension the "fan" belts so you don't kill your battery, airpump or alternator.

In addition to what the guys said above, you're going to want to change the fuel filter. You said this car has been sitting for a while right? Chances are that because the tank got really low, you sucked in a bunch of crap - this won't help things. Check the air filter as well.

Yes, change the fuel filter. Also change the little sock on the bottom of the fuel pump, and prepare to have your injectors cleaned pretty soon. The WORST thing you can do to a car that has been sitting is to pour cleaner into the gas tank and then start it up. The fuel should have been drained via the drain plug in the tank, then the system flushed.
