found and original TII window sticker (pic)

yesterday i went to kentucky with my 82 GSL and traded it for a nice brilliant black 88 TII. when i was looking at the car further, i came across some paperwork in the glovebox and in the paperwork was the original window sticker for the car. this is the first rx-7 window sticker that i've ever had. i've posted threads tryig to get others to post a pic of their windsow sticker without much success, as there probably arent many left intact. so, i decided to post a pic of the one i found. enjoy!

lol, not for sale. i figured there would be a few people that would like to see the window sticker and thats why i posted it. i think the original window stickers are excellent. tells you a lot about the car and where it came from.

23 grand was a lot for a car back in 88. I think at the time you could get a mustang or camaro for under 20, and a corvette for a bit over 30, all of which would outperform the rx7 in most areas. It is for this reason that I have a hard time understanding why people were so rough on rx7s when they cost so much...most of them that havent already been restored have had front end collisions, the interior is all ratted out, the engine barely runs, etc. You may think that this is normal for a 20 year old car, but I was finding them this way back in 98-99 when I first started looking at them.

Look at the annual fuel cost. I feel like I use that monthly.

That was about right for the time. Average mileage per year at the time was around 12000, and if you average city and highway mileage you get about 20mpg expected out of the car...meaning in a year you'd use 600 gallons. Gas at the time was around a dollar a gallon, so yeah, that's about right.

LOL, I now realize that half the people reading this might not have been old enough to *remember* when a 1988 car was new.

No, but I'd say 15 would be about right...that 13k mile t2 went for over 13k on ebay a few months back.

There is that <10k mile 10ae that shows up on ebay for 25k+ every now and then, too.

I have the Window Sticker for my GXl - ~$19,500

Woah that's expensive

I was born in 1986 so I definitely don't remember RX7's being "new".

I'd pay 10k for a mint condition low mileage TII. I remember being drawn to bid on that mint condition low mileage Florida 10th Ani.

There's 10K invested to bring my car back to factory spec but theres just nothing you can do to get rid of all the mileage.

Thanks mazdaverx713b for posting the picture of the window sticker. I'd love to have one for my '88 GTU. I do have two questions though:

1. I thought '88 non-10AE TIIs in Brilliant Black all came with the gray cloth interior. I'd like to see a photo of the "off black velour" interior. I thought the 10AE was the only S4 to come with a black interior in the US.

2. I'm surprised to see that Mazda charged $53 for the center armrest as if it was an option. I've never seen an FC without one.

I think that is their way of saying "gray cloth" as there were no non-10ae s4's with black interior.

There was the standard console lid that is about 3/4" thick, or the padded version that is about 3" thick, which is what the option was.

Hmm. Well, I didn't think there were any other interior color options on the black cars, but the gray cloth interior really isn't "off black" or "velour" so this wording is what confused me. In the '88 brochure, Mazda referred to the standard TII interior fabric as "twill" as distinguished from the SE and GXL interiors which were described as "velour."

I've never seen or heard of an optional thicker armrest before now. Interesting.

Yeah, I have one of the sport arm rests, much nicer than the one in my old base model.

if you guys that have the window stickers for your cars feel like posting pics of your window stickers that would be great!!! the seats are grey. they may be a different fabric or pattern than those in the GXL or GTU or SE. i'll take a pic of the arm rest tomorrow and post a pic of it. as Kevin mentioned above, its just a thicker pad on the center console.

the cloth turbo seats had a softer outside/edge fabric that I guess could be considered velour, while the rough "pillow" inserts were that really rough type material.

yeah, the inside section of the seats is a pretty rough material. the outside bolsters are a nice soft fabric and you can tell that they're 19 years old, but without rips or tears they're holding up quite well. not sure if i'll like the armrest. i've never had the higher padded one. i'm looking forward to giving it a shot!
