Found an Fc and need to know what to pay for it! HELP
Hey guys, I found a T2 S5 FC... the body is flawless but will need paint, the guy said hte engine "locked up" but I know the rotaries usually dont lock up... but i will rebuild and upgrade most of the engine parts as well... plan on a serious build up... he said everything else on the car works... it has been sitting for 9 years! but looks great besides some sun oxidation on the paint. anyways he said shoot him a price... and wouldnt give me a ball park figure of what he wants for the car... ofcourse I plan on talking it down... saying it needs this... and that... but everything on the car is stock and intact... over all a nice car. the interior is good too but ill be changine it to black. Ok now to the question... what would you guys say the value of the car is or what would be a good starting offer... since he didnt give me any idea of what he want it may be rediculous and ill say forget it or i may get a hell of a deal! So any advice would be helpful. thanks!

look under it for rust. 9 years omg. did he crank it every so often????
I paid $1650 for a 86 in great running order with decent paint, clean title, one owner and alot of new little things oh and 112k miles. I guess that was a lucky deal though

A few weeks back I picked up an s5 n/a with a locked engine for $200. The body isnt too bad, it has its fair share of little dings but it is nothing I cant fix and there isn't a spot of rust on the vehicle. It also came with a cat back exhaust. If the car has been sitting for 9 years I would start out at $500 and work from that. As soon as you start working on the vehicle you will find more and more things that have gone bad, not from wear and tear but just the plain fact the vehicle hasnt been used.

I got my (running) 86 GXL for 200 dollars.. the paint was bad and the interior was pretty beaten, but it was mechanically and structually sound.. I'd be very hesitiant to offer more than $500... if he wants more, you can find a better deal elsewhere.

200-500 bux and that is all. NINE years??? everything is all dry rotted. You'll need to replace every peice of rubber on that car. Thats vacuum hoses, brake lines, fuel lines, fuses, wire leads, The AC and the water pump and the power steering and the alt will all be bad. The clutch will be dried up and the throwout bearing will be shot and the oils seals (for the tranny) will leak. The Coolan system will leak and the radiator will crack.
OBTW the motor rebuild will cost you about 900 if you do it yourself

Yea, well I already looked for rust... besides the exhaust everything looked pretty good... i looked under the hood and there seemed to be very minimal dry rot and rust... the tires were somewhat dry rotted... but i just dont think the guy knows much about the car at all... because he just talked about things when i would bring them up... like i asked if it were an S4 or S5 and (knowing its an S5) and he said its a 13B.... so yea... anyways... I was figuring maybe $800 offer... and My friend has a T2 just sitting we just pulled the motor out of... the rear rotor was blown or the apex seal or something... so as for hoses and things i can use most of his if i have to replace them... and my other friend ( 7dreamz on the forums here) has the nastiest FC around... and spare parts... we will be doing the work ourselves... so we are saving alot of money in the long run. everyone here seems to be saying between $500 and $1000 so i think ill start at $800. Thanks for the help guys... any more advice is welcome!

i paid $1300 for my S4 T2 with a bad coolant seal, the car was clean and still registered and ran but needed a rebuild.
i wouldn't pay any more than $500 for it mainly because it has been sitting for so long and it will need a lot more TLC than you can imagine.

zoom zoom go boom
I paid only 2k for my 90 TII. It had nice paint (then) and just needed some new vacuum hoses. Yep, found it on the edge of a field in Cullman, Ala. 45minutes north of birmingham. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. The guy showed up to sell it to me while drunk as hell.

im plannin on buyin a fc with rebuild engine, 5000 miles, for 3000 and/ or lower. Or i could go with a turbo with 75k original miles for 5k, everytihg pretty much perfect, never seen one better and im not exagerating.

strike up the paean
sitting for 9 years... i would move on to another car. the engine could be rusted to **** on the inside, and unrebuildable. IMO it should be considered a shell, not a rebuildable car.

the question is how useable are the parts, and make sure you check for rust underneath the car and underneath the carpet. If there's any major rust forming, walk away, you won't win.
