Found, coolant leak

Thought I would post this for some of the newbies so they don't make the same mistake I made.

I had a coolant leak, a bad one too. It looked like it was coming from the bell housing, so I thought it was between the engine and the tranny. After removing the engine 2ce, I finally found it. There is a pressure hose on the back side of the water pump next to the thermo sensor that has an elbow under the intake manifold. It was there that the leak was.

It ran down the top of the engine, and down the cracks to the bottom of the bell housing and viola, misinterpretted leak!

That's really too bad. Had you done a search on the forum for coolant leaks at the rear of the engine you might have saved yourself a lot of wasted effort. That specific leak has been discussed many times over in the forum. In any case, perhaps as you intend, your post will help others resolve this problem more quickly and easily.

misinterpretted leaks... i had a few... My over flow container would always be low and it seemed i always kept it toped up, turned out to be a reaky rad hose...

Then a little while after that i found coolant puddles under my engine when i parked... i got a little worried, but after looking for a while i found out it was the hose that feed the heater core with coolant right on the firewall.
