Forced induction opinions...

Okay my friend Spaz has an 86 GXL. He is planning some major upgrades. He want's forced induction in a bad way.

He has been planning on going with a built (low compression) engine from Atkins with a Camden super charger. But you can't rev past 6000 RPM with this set up and makes around 320 horse power.

I say go turbo. He is contemplating going with a TII swap. He works on cars alot and the engine swap will not be a major under taking for him. He is also thinking of getting the engine from Atkins and going with a turbo set up.

Or there is always the third form of forced induction, Nitrous Oxide. A good built engine with a hundred shot or so.

He really wants at bare minimum 350 to 400 horse power. So let's see what you guys think.

Nitrous is cheap and effective. However, no engine will last without a well built set-up. You can't strap on 200 shot of nitrous to your stock NA and expect it to go more than 2 feet.

Best bet: Buy a turbo car and go from there.

Each power adder option makes for a completely different driving experience. He really needs to do some more research and figure out which of those experiences he most would enjoy.

I like nitrous, for example. Ported motor, stock ECU, TII drivetrain, and I go for 280 hp shots. Its a blast.

Sorta. Car is having some "issues" right now, not related to compression, thank god.

I'm gonna sort it out either this weekend or next, as I just started eng phys. at UBC this week.

LOL. I know my stuff, and have a few tricks. Nitrous isn't hard, and I have a big budget for a new motor.

There are others running bigger shots than that, but I think I'm the only one running the stock engine fuel system at the same time.

Did you not see the write-up?

We appreciate the opinions. I think he is really wanting the supercharger. He wants the power but he also likes the idea that not alot of people are running them, and nobody around here.

Personally, I like turbo. Not my car, and I can't afford turbo anyway.

I will let you guys know which way he finally decides and what happens when he finally does it. (if he does it).

If your buddy wants unique, go with all three. I saw it once, on a Testarossa.
