Fmic with Stock ECU or RTEK/other and AFM

i'm having issues with my turbo setup, i had a thought about there being too much piping for volume between the throttle and the AFM. Common sense tells me there is a point were too much air( like 10 feet of 3 inch tubing) between the two causes problems..

the issue is a delay when giving it gas, major hesitations like a vac leak, but those are all fixed.

i'm looking to hear from someone with a stock ECu/afm that has a FMIC with alot of volume.

does it not matter and i should look elsewhere for my problem.. ?
or did you have to make the AFM blow thru after the intercooler?
i used smoke to verify intake leaks, and fixed them.

ive had experience with an FD with a too big intercooler, and it had a rubber band effect, like the turbo had to refill the IC before the engine got any air.

moving the AFM does two things, the first is that vacuum leaks in front of the turbo don't matter anymore, so it eliminates a potential trouble spot, but also moving the afm restriction after the turbo, potentially lowers the turbos pressure ratio, which means it will move more air, at a given boost https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati.../#post11997818

I ran the Rx7store FMIC kit with no issue. Granted it wasn't 3 inch piping... how big is your core? And why such large piping?

heres the secret.. they are twins. with an ARC top mount. the length isnt' long, and the diameter isn't more then 2.5. but they're enough plumbing there for two turbos.. so it's alot of volume in the pipes.

j9fd3s- i just was in that thread. yes, twins with the AFM and rtek. a thread will soon follow, but im tryin to get it squared away before thread, i like my performance threads with dynos in the first post. shut up the naysayers before they open their dump mouths.

i have an Rx7 magazine with a car like that in it, FD twins on an FC engine. off the top it was an FMIC car, don't recall if they were running the AFM, if they were it was on the cold side of the IC.

well i'm hoping i could hear from someone who put a fmic on the stock ecu who had he same problems and solved them by moving the AFM to post IC... or that they installed a fmic and it ran the same as factory, or really close.

My Tii was doing that when I first got it. Basically if you smacked the throttle open quickly it would hesitate and fall on its *** like there wasnt enough accel enrichment. The primary and secondary injector air bleed orings were rock hard and acting like a nasty vacuum leak that was hard to find.

Fixed...

the first thing i found was a very gummy AFM, so i cleaned it up and then performance tested it vs a good N/a s4 AFM and then an S5 Turbo AFM, all three acted the same. so i watched the afm open with the imput of throttle and the flow matched the door movement, the engine just wasnt reacting the way it should....

so i remembered that i had unpinned the fuel injectors and swap primary and sacondary AT the ECU CONNECTOR.. so i decided to double check how i put the wires back,,, and there it was.... the car was firing the 2ndary injectors as if they were the primaries... i had the plug backwards when i was messing with it, and had both swapped...

car runs great now, look for that twin sequential on fc block thread soon. just building the twin sequential logic...
