They're needed when running more than 10-11lbs of boost, the tmic starts to lose it's effiency arounf there, as long as the FMIC isn't too big it should help out and cool the intake charge. read up on front mount intercoolers - i just bought a core and piping kit for less than three hundred....

To make an inexpensive FMIC setup, you will basically be buying a generic intercooler core (generally eBay) and then assembling your own piping either from scratch of from a generic piping kit (eBay again). It's going to take some fab work and some thought, but it's not that difficult. Keep in mind that the generic pipe kits generally come with very poor silicone connectors so you'll want to replace those with something a little tougher...

The black piping kit has t-bolts and thicker silicone hoses over those shiny crome ones. And there the same price.

Greddy 2 Row FMIC 86-91 RX-7

I was thinking about just buying one already built, a bit costly but I'm willing to do it.
or Cork Sports.

Is the Greddy 2 Row FMIC quite a good inter cooler?

thats a great intercooler.. but as stated above its costly. the reason it cost so much is because they already did all the thinking for you. if you wanted to do it for cheaper its going to, like aaron said take some thought, fab, etc. but yeah if i had the money i'd just buy a greddy.

Yes, it is better than the stock TMIC if running more than 10-11 psi... as stated above. If you have a stock set-up, the stock TMIC will work. If you plan on modifying your vehicle (bigger turbo, injectors, etc...), then the Greddy FMIC set-up would be a good start, BUT MORE MONEY. Did you factor in that you'll need a BOV too?

They don't come with a stock BOV ?if they do why would I need after market one?
Do i need the BOV flanges also?

that's all good though, I want to order an Greddy BOV.
http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/gr...0bov%20kit.htm

That BOV should work just fine?

last year i would have agreed with you, however the generic ebay fmic plumbing kits ive seen lately have come with thick (thicker than the ones i got from ATP) couplers and highquality stainless t-bolt connectors

The kit will come with a pipe wih the flange already on it. I cannot confirm this for you, because I don't want you to buy it and then be pissed at me. Anyway, the Greddy FMIC kit you're looking at... does it come with the compression tube also?

I wish it told me if it came with a compression tube, all I know is what it says there.
BTW I wouldn't be pissed at you, I'd just order one lol .

so the FMIC and the BOV look good?

I hope it comes with Flanges, and Compression tube.
=(

ANYTHING ELSE NEED?

The greddy kit is like 300$ less then me fabing one and theres a grreddy kit in my shop right now, it is a hunk of ****.

My recommendation is finding a goo core and taking it to a qualified performance fab shop if you can.

The greddy kit does come with the throttle body elbow, if that the same as the compression tube. The 2.5" piping kit i bought came w/ 4 ply reinforced silicone couplers and heavy duty t-bolt clamps. The only thing i was suprised at is how heavy the intercooler core i bought was, it's 27x12x3 and weighs one million pounds, or close to it.

I didn't buy the Greddy kit, I bought a generic core a piping kit. But I called the greddy guys and they said that the kit included the elbow.

as purchase of this, I need a BOV?

Any other extras I should get?
I think its stock turbo, wouldn't mind upgrading, without changing too much.

if you do want to upgrade the turbo then i suggest BNR turbos. BNRsupercars.com they offer bolt on hybrid turbos. im going with a stage 3 or stage 4 for my project car.

as for the greddy kit. i dont suggest you get it. i built my entire FMIC setup from ebay materials and i save about $400 or maybe more. plus if you fab the entire thing your self then you will learn alot about your car

i dont know about the specs for the kit but im pretty sure youll have to relocate the battery as well.

I suggest a custom garret with a 1.15Ar if you upgrade the turbo. Turblown would be your best source the BNR's are way to small hot side period.
