depends how much you wana spend. for SS piping you are looking at a few hundred bucks for piping. plus labour to weld some together.
SS might be harder to find local.
mild steel maybe $50-100 for piping. + labour for welding. mild steel you should be able to get from any car place. just go ask for mild steel exhaust U-bends. dyno max, hooker etc.

1/4 of an inch will make absolutely no noticeable difference when you're talking about a diameter that small.
It will make a difference when you're talking 4.0" compared to 4.25", but the surface area of the piping is NOT much different when you're talking bout 2.25" to 2.5" piping.

In the meantime, anyone considering dumping their existing 2.25" piping, and dropping in cash on all new 2.5" piping really needs to consider dropping their money elsewhere, like a more drastic diameter change (IE 3"), or a nice turbo to take advantage of the FMIC

I like how you avoided answering the question. I'll take that to mean you don't have a front mount, haven't ever had a front mount. I would not re-do 2.25" piping to 2.5" either the person that was directed to, has yet to have built his piping, and has the chance to save himself the trouble now.

HE ALREADY BOUGHT THE INTERCOOLER! That means he has to drop his current setup and go with a new intercooler! Or change the inlet/outlets. Why? For a 1/4 inch extra diameter? Its more trouble than it's worth!!!! If he was going to 3", that's another story. But from 2.25 to 2.5? WHY?
I myself have never owned a car with an FMIC, however, i've had experience with several Talon TSi's, and have helped install an FMIC in my buddy's Talon (http://members.rogers.com/shawntalonz/)
The piping was made for us and we OPTED for 3" piping.
