fmic but want to keep my fog lizights!
hey guys! i'm curious as if there is a good way to do fmic and keep my fog lights. I know there isnt much room down there but if there is a good way i'd love to know! there is also the option to go mid mount and curious as to if that would allow me to keep my fog lights! anyone have this going on? :3

I also didn't want to lose my fog lights and actually wanted to keep the front pretty much stock, so i'm trying something different:
You do need an electrical fan if your going this route though.
This is my front btw:

thats what i wanna do. you've got pretty much the exact look i'm going for with the front lip and head light cover except on a convertible! :P
i want to keep it looking stock on the outside (minus the lip and cover) like the basic look of the car without all that fancy ****! :P
what exactly did you do for this?

I will try to make some better pictures.
You have to make some kind of frame to tilt the radiator to make room for the intercooler. I used a Forge intercooler, don't know if they are available in the US though. I will have to look for the exact measurements.
You'll probably want to install an electrical fan as the radiator will move backwards a bit to.
I actually routed the intercooler piping underneath the power-steering unit as I didn't want to lose this either.
I will post the pictures as soon as possible.

My HKS set up on my S5 TurboVert, one little 3-4" diameter hole under where the stock air box mounts so minimal modification. I maintain my PS, Air Pump, fog lights, and everything else. Amemiya made a similar set up with same install advantages. Key design feature, all piping goes to the FMIC from the passenger side. I'm putting 306 whp to the ground.
I'm very interested how the water temps go when you sandwich the FMIC immediately to the front of the radiator. I would think you'd want SOME air gap.

i have a friend who has his own shop and has even raced in d1 (only made top 16 but still!) and he keeps telling me that its all about mid mount. it seems to be one of the better ways to go with intercoolers for what i'm looking for and god forbid i get in a front end collision the chances of my intercooler getting fucked is reduced by quite a bit. i'm sure it saves it from getting nailed by rocks and other road debris

It's not a stock radiator, it's a koyo rad, and the Flex-A-Lite electric fan displaces a lot of air!

i got mine by trading my stock exhaust and crappy wheels that are in my sig for my friends saw blades, his shitty aftermarket exhaust, fog lights! lol he was trying to make his street port quieter but failed horribly! i kept everything he gave me tho but tossed the exhaust for one my friend built me.
if you go to a junk yard or go on ebay is probably going to be your best bet tho! i see them for sale on ebay all the time. i'm sure they're one of the first things to go on an rx7 that happens to make it into the junk yard so you have to be ontop of that ****! good luck man!

VMIC would be a possibility but I want to keep the stock hood, I don't know if I could get enough flow through the intercooler with that setup. I'm still in the process of building the current setup. If it doesn't work I'll try something else.
I will be uploading some pictures real soon!

Here they are:
duct going beneath power steering
Duct is missing in between the two elbows but you'll get the idea. Blow-off valve adapter is going to be welded on this duct.
Duct from turbo to intercooler.
Elbow on the turbo.
Left side view of the intercooler and radiator, every gap is going to be closed, forcing the air to go through the radiator and intercooler.
Top down view at the electrical fan.
Front view at the radiator/intercooler
and another one
View underneath the car (yes, I do have my own lift )
