flywheel / transmission swap questions
sup everyone - i've read through the archives, fc3psro, and a few other websites and i just want someone to confirm for me what i have here. my car: 86 base model
my clutch is finally going so i started researching what i can do here. I've been planning a turbo swap for quite a while, and have slowly been doing the chassis prior to doing any power mods.
from what i understand, there are three types of counterweight sets for the FC. the s4 manual, s5 manual, and s4/s5 auto. so there is no distinction between the counterweights necessary for a s4 na or s4 tii when swapping flywheels. from what i've gathered, if you have a s4 na or s4 tii and you want to go to an aftermarket fidanza flywheel you need to run the automatics rear counterweight.
another example of this would be you can directly swap the tii flywheel onto the na provided both cars are s4 or s5. do i have everything correct here?
my plan is to take a fidanza flywheel, whatever counterweight is necessary, tii clutch, and of course i'm going to swap in the tii drivetrain along with everything.
someone please provide me with some confirmation here before i drop the money!
thanks
db

also - the reason i'm running into this issue is because i'm not ready to do the full TII swap at this time. obviously this would be a simple thing if i was doing the entire TII motor, engine, trans, etc, but i'm trying to maintain compatibility so that i can build up a streetported TII motor this winter.

You're correct in that you'll need the counterweight for whatever series Turbo engine you use.

Ok..I think I gotcha ..the Engine is S4.You are gonna put in the TII drivetrain..For that you need the S4 (Auto) counterweight. It doesn't matter if TII or N/A.it has to be S4.That is Your engine...now the Transmission.:you need ,Of course the TII transmission, the TII flywheel(or a TII light flywheel),TII Starter. TII Slave for the clutch(it mounts on the Trans),as they are Different from the N/A....now to get that Transmisssion Hooked up to the back:If you are Staying N/A from the Diff, then you need a Conversion Shaft(TII trans to N/A Diff),otherwise Change the rest of the Drivetrain from the Transmission Tail stock back to ALL TII Components....anyhow,that is that..any other Info can be found by Looking DOWN..\/..(there!)..under the post quick reply section..all are related questions.,Because this question,Believe it or not,has been asked before!(J/k..!)..Cheers,and hope it works out for ya!
