Flywheel torque help 60°

Flywheel torque help 60°

Hey guys I removed the flywheel nut since we never put thread locker and sealant. So removed it and did the
150 torque mark then make a mark it 60°
I wasn't able to get it exactly on the 60°
I think my torque gun isnt that strong.
i took pictures. Should I buy a stronger torque wrench or is this good enough.


anyone recomend a cheap torque wrench if I need to get it aligned.
wont budge anymore with a breaker bar

Mazdatrix flywheel nut wrench has always worked for me. Granted the engines been in the car, but the only difference is the engines bolted down.

I have the socket. I just dont have strong enough impact gun to get it to 350lbs
right now I think is 290lbs since its not. Almost innthe middle between the marks it made.
apex is 150lbs and the second mark should be 60°

Is this good enough or should I buy something stronger impact wrench

okay guys. Went and borrowed a 650ft lb impact gun.
I decided to remove it again. I cleaned the threads and gasket. Re applied gasket and red loctite. Used the impact gun at 120psi. I hit it a few times at full at 120psi.
it looks like i got it closer past the middle line.
it might be at 70° now. I also got my friend at 150lbs with an extension bar on a breaker bar. Dont think it tightened much but we try to bounce our weight on it.
im hoping thats enough to not wiggle itself out. Them red loctite should help it took.

one of these days i'm going to measure the protrusion of the Eshaft through the nut, and just use that as a double check.

FWIW, you could buy a 3/4" drive 150-750 ft.-lb. digital torque adapter at Harbor Freight for about $60. I don't usually torque that nut down nor do I use a thread locking compound. I usually use a 3/4" drive tee handle and 2-1/8" socket with a 3' pipe on the end. Never did I have any problems with that nut loosening up.

Finally bought a high impact wrench and it did move a lot more. Good thing i bought this. Wont have to strugle anymore.


as you can see it finally went last the middle line. The middle line was my 60° approximate marking.
Now i know it wont move out.

Mission accomplished!

Late to the party, but each tip of a hexagon is 60 degrees apart.
Like others above, I have used leverage over power tools, 3/4" breaker bar with a 4 foot pipe over that.
