Flywheel Question ! Quick
Just got a flywheel in the mail that i bought for my 5 speed '87 n/a rx-7, the problem is...it doesn't look like my old one on the back of it. My old one was consistent in shape on the back with no protruding or obvious "counterweight". The one i just got in the mail
has an obvious counterweight on the back along one part of the edge. It's not aftermarket but, i'm thinking it's for a s5 or an automatic s4. anyone have pics of a flywheel from either of those years (as long as you're sure). bottom line, it's not the same as my flywheel that i just removed.

Here's a picture of an identical flywheel to the one i just got in the mail. A '86-'88 n/a 5 speed shouldn't have that counterweight, right ?

I have never seen a manual flywheel, but I know they they have build in counterweights, so that looks like it is most likely a stock manual flywheel.
I can tell you 100% that it is NOT an auto "flywheel". First of all, they have a flex plate, not a flywheel. Second, it is much different looking from that. Third, autos DO NOT have a built in flywheel. It is bolted on and a separate piece. This is why you always have to use an auto counterweight with aftermarket flywheels - because it it built in to the stock manual flywheel.
