when i flush the radiator system is the car suppose to be running. or just stick a hose down that bad boy and leave the drain plug unplugged. also i have an 87 non turbo and the stupid pulsation damper is leaking gas, can i just replace it with one of the newer ones 89 and up. that the damper is in the fuel rail or do i have to modify it?

 

You can flush it just fine with the engine off. You will get the best results if you remove the coolant filler cap (by the thermostat), radiator bleeder plug, radiator drain plug, and engine block plug, and flush it with a garden hose while the heater is set to max heat. Once everything is drained out, reinstall the two drain plugs, and add the appropriate mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Start the engine, and add coolant until the top radiator hose looks full, and then reinstall the bleeder plug and filler cap.

Sorry, I live in 86-88 RX-7 Land, so I don't know about the pulsation damper issue. You may want to ask that in a different thread with an appropriate title.

 

In order to upgrade the pulsation damper you must use the later primary fuel rail along with the later damper.

 

Yup..and the fuel rails are directly swappable. May require a new hose, but you should be replacing that anyway whenever you work on it.
