flush headlights
i think the car would look great if the rest of the looks of the car were to be updated such as the wheels, wide fenders and what i think makes it look the most bland is the NA hood. Can someone photo shop a hood scoop i think it would look terrific. One thing is that i think that the lenses coming down to the FTP's are a little too much. Maybe filling in the FTP lense area and bringing up the lenses right about where the FTPs would be would look terrific. Anyways props to you on your work. If your happy with them then keep em that way

The hardest part would have been finding someone to make the fiberglass for the headlight bucket. i would have found an alternative method for mounting, probably more similar to what Dltreezan has put together.
Unless you are an established fiberglass shop, there is no way the supplies are going to cost less than $100.
Just the materials alone will cost you an easy $100.
Don't forget all the brushes, "squeegies", rags, cleaners, thinners, gel coat, etc. that adds to the price.
Doing a custom bumper, be prepared to shell out closer to $500 if you're doing it from scratch.
I should know cause we're designing one ourselves...

Like I said, if I were to have made it myself it would be similar to what Dltreezan has put together. Nothing like what I have on there now. That was my original plan anyway, but lack of time due to deployments, i bit the bullet and bought the Cp racing kit instead. No complaints or regrets, just if I were to do it again, that would have been my avenue of choice.
Speaking of which, Dltreezan how much are those lights going for as well as the fenders? i could definitely use those on my vert project.

WTF.........the guy just said here take a look...how do ya like em. Then he explained the process it took to install, and then finished with his synopsis. Overall all his posts were extremely helpful and beneficial while all your posts you either misread (thought he said he could build those lights for 100 when he said 100 less...clearly) or flamin like the above. You and your boyfriend must never get along ......:td

I was searching for the SC2000 kit with the headlights and came across this. I personally dont like the way the lights look on this car. I saw many posts that were constructive criticism based and not a potential flame war. I pretty much try to avoid posting on this site becuz the main ppl who criticize doing something different are the same ones unable to afford to be different.
has anyone tried MAKING any knockoffs/molds of flush mounts since then?...
I love me knockoffs...
...oh, and for you guys who seemed surprise about the dissing, you guys lost?...this is rx7club, foo - don't post without armor...

no the trick is that if you do something different you have to make it look/proform better than whats accepted or its looked down on. and most people here are into alot of the stock fetures of the car and thus do not alway accept changes to it. you have to accept and respect that everyone will not always agree or appriciate what you or others do, but most will

I would love to get something similar to the Knight Sports headlights but NOT for 1K............I got some 99 integra headlights and will tear them apart to see if I can make something similar to Knight Sports AND keep my pop ups.
for real...I've been meaning to just start making some cardboad cutouts to make headlights buckets, and make a mold outta that...possibly out of fiberglass or (better?) uhmw plastic...but would they melt?
...
...seriously, how hard can it really be?...

Its more of a pain in the *** than you think. You have to get the curve of the body right for the lexan to sit flush with the rest of the body and having it boxy inside makes it look really ghetto. The difficulty with this setup is depth. With the FD or any other flush mount kit you have space behind the housing in which to have the lights, and this is not the case here. The radiator support really gets in the way and entirely limits the space available. It is nearly impossible to fit any lights you want because if you use something long you a limited by height the further foward you move. Also having something really boxy would look cheese as well any place on the mold that has a 90 degree turn is difficult to lay up on, especially in CF. Therefore to do it right you will have to get the rectangle made first. Glass over it once you have the shape right and then bondo and sand for about a month and a half on your free time. Not as easy as it might seem.
