Flooding of engine?

Is it true that if you turn the car off and then off, and then back on again (Like when you're waiting for a train), it will flood your engine? Just curious so that when I get mine I won't flood it! Thanks...

Dont go F'in up that mint FC you just got..Ill have to hurt you But, yes in some Rx-7s turning off the car within a minute or two after it turning on will cause it to get flooded. It is mainly due to leaky fuel injectors, not all cars do it(mine wont) but some will. Its only within a few minutes after startup that it is a concern though.

I like the part about the new 7 lol
But Troy I have never had a problem with flooding at all.

if the car is in good condition. it shouldn't really flood no matter what you do....

normaly if it does. it's when it's still cold when you turn it off. like start it. move 10' down the driveway. and turn it off. it might be flooded next time to try to start. so never turn it off when it's cold.

I read something the other day that said that it wasnt actually "flooding" when this happened. They said that the Apex seals would heat up after the short time of operation but then would retract farther into the relatively "cool" rotors when the engine is turned off. Thus effectivly lowering your compression at cranking speeds.

Dunno...Sounded like a good theory to me.

From my experience flooding is more from low compression than leaking injectors, althought leaking injectors will cause flooding also. Cars with low compression have hard time starting especially when hot.
