flash to pass lens

hey guys. I want to have the flash to pass lens light up when the illume lights and headlights are on. i want the turn signal ligts in front to only light up when i flip the turn signal switch. There doesn't seem to be a bulb in the flash to pass lens. I want the lights up front to look like the FC In the Initial D movie. How do I do it? Is there a write up on this?

japanese rx-7 have FTP lenses with bulbs in them, or u can do what i did and mount some small fog lights right behind them, some cutting of the back of the lense might be required to fit.

Talking

You need to remove the FTP (flash to pass) lenses and take the back of them off thus destroying any resale value of them. but in short go to your local walmart or whatever to get some lights that will fit in the FTP lenses and still be shallow enough to not interfere with the headlights moving up and down. wire thos up on a switch or to your maker lights so they come on when the makers come on.

Personally I am going to do this but only wire them into my High beams, so they are ony on when my high beams are on... ie retaining their use as FTP lights.

hope that helps,
TR

i had 55 watt fog lights short oval shaped, walmart brand haha... and didnt really notice any melting,
make sure you cut as much of the back off as posible to keep the fog lgihts as far from the plastic as you can, id cut part of the top and bottom off too, so your just left with the front of the lense and the bolting points.

when i added 100 watt bulbs, it melted a tiny bit of the top and bottom, but didnt mess up the front( visible part) at all, and i had them like that for a yr with out having any problem.
i only cut the back off so it was too close to the fog lights.

I wired my headlights so they turn on when I flip a switch but they dont' flip up, therefore, the light shines through the FTP's. it's pretty cool.

yup...not cheap for parts that arent made anymore...... but worth the money imo!

and they were a piece of cake to install... (although i cheated and just unhooked the side marker lights, and simply plugged in the lights to them) (same clips)

ftps were the same through the s4/s5 series.... so jdms as well as usdm ftps will fit both s4 and s5

I've been workin on this in a slightly different way. Since we have 2 switches that turn the lights up, and only one to turn them on, I wanna be able to turn on the lights with the normal switch and use the other switch to flip them up or down. I don't want any extra switches in the car for that.

I wish that the headlight switch worked a bit more like talons did..

thats a good idea, I'm sure its a pretty simple modification needs to be made to the switch to make it turn the lights on with one switch, and pop them up with the other - I'd love to do this to my car, for a while I even had a switch on the retractor fuse under the hood for just this purpose..

Anyone messed with headlight switches know what to modify to make it work like that?

isn't it also illegal in most states to not have parking lamps, IE making the turn signals only light up when you turn on the blinker.??????

(damn- a bit drunk! that took forever to type)

ooh, and what Jakor said.
