fixing the A/T driveshaft problem.....

ok so if you use an auto driveshaft to connect a tII trans to a n/a differential its about 1.5" too short right? so how about instead of having a machine shop add to length to the driveshaft, what if i took a piece of aluminum 1.5" and 4"x4" across(or whatever the cross section of the driveshaft mount is), drilled holes in it for the bolts, and got some bolts long enough to connect the whole thing. the only issue i can think of is balancing it out. can anyone think of any potential problems with this?

The flange on the driveshaft has a small ridge on it that fits into the front of the flange on the differential so you black of aluminum would have to have a hole in the center of it.I suspect that there may be balancing issues as you mentioned.
