Fitting on intermediate housing next to oil fill tub.

Alright, there'a fitting ON the intermediate plate, which has the oil fill tube. One of them I know goes to the purge control valve. then there's another one. It's brass lookin', pointing it's opening to the firewall. What is it's purpose. It says in the FSM it goes to the charcoal canister, but I'm not sure if it REALLY goes there.

The engine is an 87 N/A 13B, claimed to have been rebuilt at 100k, and has 50k miles on it. I haven't taken this thing on the road yet, since it's not registered yet.
