First rx7
Hey all, my first post!
Anyway, I've have an 89 rx7. Basically I'm just wanting opinions on what I should start with first. I've sold the stock motor and transmission, and had planned on putting a 4.3 vortec back in it. Everything in the car is stock, nothing has been changed.
So what do you guy's think the first step I should take needs to be?

you wont find very much support for that in this forum, most of the people here consider that to be THE ultimate sin. However, there are people on here who have done it, not necessarily that engine, but people that have done 6 and 8 swaps...search around and you will find sonme help. good luck with your project.

Welcome to the forum! Your first step should definitely be research. Make sure you know what you can afford before you start and what your goals for the car are. If you want to tow boats, the 4.3L Vortec would probably be a good choice. Perhaps it is a sin to swap that engine in, but it will always be an RX-7--your RX-7! Whatever you do, remember it's YOUR car, no one else's . It sounds like a unique and interesting project. Good luck and happy wrenching!

Make sure everything is mechanically sound first. After it runs well and sounds good, then you should worry about mods. Unless you need a new exhaust because the old one is hot then you can go all out. This is what I am doing.

As with any car you are new to, take it easy as you get used to the handling. For example if you try a quick lane change at 65 without practicing first at lower speeds, the rear steer will be a BIG SURPRISE. Few cars have a 50/50 front to rear weight balance, so most drivers don’t know what to expect.

Well, sorry for not replying, but my computer decided to take a crap..
Anyways.. I wasn't expecting to get flamed like that. This is my first rx7, and the reason I mentioned the 4.3 was because I know a few people that have done that, and their cars turned out extremely nice. I still havent done anything to the car, and could very well put a rotary back in it. The main reason I sold the motor and trans, was because the guy gave me more money for it, than I payed for the whole car. He didn't get the turbo's off of it though. I still got them.
Thanks for the replies anyway.
I'll keep you guy's updated.
