First Rx-7
Ok So for the longest time, i been helpingmy friend out with his Rx-7, having fun learning about the routery engines in all. Well the other day he found a sweet deal on a 7.
1988 Mazda, Rx-7 SE non turbo.
well back in September of 99 they had a **** load of work done to it.
Engine, blets hoses, injectors, exhaust from the Cat back, and all sorts of stuff. Then 14k miles later they parked it and it sat for 2 years. It dosent start . but it good codintion. The Dody needs a lil paint on the sunroof, and the molding is falling off.
Well all that is childsplay, i know some people that can get me the paint, and molding is easy to reapir.
But here is the problem. Not to much of the problem cause i have an idea what the deal is and will have it up and running in no time.
Battery = dead
Plugs = Fouled
Gas = Old
Well if you hook it up to jumpers the engine Turns over!
So im thinking its just flooded over time and we had te same problem on another Rx-7. Took the plugs out took the Fule fuses out, started it, then retriied again.. Boom it started and now is runing like new
When i have time (today) ill go over there and try that out.
If anyone has suggestions please feel free to help me out, cause i cant wait to get this road bound.

You need to properly unstore the car.
We've covered this before, so if you search for "sitting" you should find info, especially if you include my name in the search.
That said, the basics are:
-change all fluids
-drain and flush gas tank and lines, change filter
-squirt some oil into each lower spark plug hole and spin the engine by hand a few times. Repeat 2 or 3 times
-new hoses, plugs, wires, etc.
-full 60K tuneup
Now, you can install your battery and start the car. Drive it easily for the first 500 miles or so. You will likely need to replace some of the hydraulic parts.

I'll defentily change the Gas, and oil out. Test teh coolant with some strips to see if its good or not, then change as needed.
I though it was Transmission fluid that you used in the cyclender heads (spark plugs) but i guess lubercant is the same :P but cool ill do as it needs.
The plugs are New "NGK" No rust on them or ware, flooded but that is drying as we speak!!
Going over today to do some other stuff to it!
Thanks for the help very helpful.

Change all fluids (don't forget brake, clutch, washer fluid and diff). You want to remove all contamination. If you properly unstore the car, it will be fine. If you "half-***" it, you will find yourself with major problems a few hundred miles down the road.

welcome to the rotary world and the South East rotary world at that. if your at all interested in meeting with some rotary guys check the thread out https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...94#post4207294
but as i have learned rotary engines do not like to sit, so first thing before anything is to check compression. if compression is no good suspect a rebuild soon. and hopefully the people that stored it stored it properly

They kept it in a drive way, the Exhaust is still new, not that rusted. Yeah, i had a feeling i had to replace the lines adn all for the brakes, but im in no rush to get this thing moving. cause one $ and 2 i have another car to drive.
Ok so i was tinkering with it just trying to get some life into it, and see if it would live and i noticved something.
The Plugs where not getting fouled. sooo I checked the Fuel pump
white/green tracer wirer. Runs to the Fuel gage. which works
red. Runs from relay and i asume runs the Pumo.. No power
Blue cant remeber but that has no power and must be ground..
If im wrong tell me was looking at wiring dirgrams and playing DnD with buddies at the same time, so Multi tasking and a wirging Dirgrams dont mix.
But al and all i think the Relay is shot. When i can get back over there i will look.
