get a downpipe or gut those pre-cats. i havn an 86 n/a and the downpipe is awsome. also consider changing your stock "cold air induction" air intake into a cone filter. you can buy the cone filter adapters on e-bay or racingsummit....but i found mine in town. good luck
First get all new plugs and wires, fuel filter, o2 sensor, new oil. Next do a full exhaust. If you wanna keep it legal go with a bonez superflo or something like it then find your self a nice catback. Next I would do the intake.
Definetly exhaust, then intake, but 1st make sure your car is running perfectly. You might want to even take it to mazda and have them do a compression check and computer error code test. The compression test will tell you if your car has good seals, or if you should be considering finding a different rx7... the cuomputer test ought to be able to tell you which of your sensors are good, and which are bad. These cars have way too many to begin with, so expect some to be bad. If you take your car to a dealership, respect what they say and get lots of info, but remember that they are just salesmen, and MOST of them don't know a damn thing about our cars, just how to work the computer that plugs into them
