Long story short, this car is driven 3-5 days per month to work. It otherwise sits in the garage covered to keep my kids from playing with their hot-wheels on the hood.... LOL The car has been driven about 1000 miles since I purchased it last November. Every fluid, plugs, wires all have approx 1000 miles on them.

Yesterday I went to take the car for a spin and upon normal startup it appeared to be running on a single rotor. (insert mini heart attack now) After starting it instantly had a nasty vibration and multiple popping sounds from the exhaust. After approx 10-15 seconds everything smoothed out and it felt NORMAL.

My only guess is last time the car was driven (3 weeks prior) a rotor tip must have came to a stop near a leading spark plug and possibly some residual premix had soaked the plug electrode? Once the nasty bucking and popping stopped after 15 seconds the car literally ran and drove fine for the rest of all day yesterday.


Thoughts? I have not pulled the plugs yet. Perhaps just a bad luck day? Possible injector leaking for that particular rotor (not sure which wasn't running)

EDIT : It's an uncollected RB exhaust system and the right side was doing all the popping. Which is the front rotor.

P.S There was no smoke no steam. So hopefully that rules out leaking jacket. I did a pressure test approx 3 weeks back looking for an external coolant leak... System held fine for over an hour after finding leaking waterpump housing.

Well the car started perfectly and drove fine 25 miles to work on winding back roads utilizing all of the power band up to 7k rpms.

I'll caulk it up to a hiccup... maybe a bit of premix made it onto a plug electrode..

My vert used to do that frequently, but the motor had 60/65psi of compression and im sure the seals were sticking due to carbon build up.

I'll take that as, I should drive my car harder LOL Thank you for the feedback, in the year i've owned the car it hasnt happened and I never felt something similar on my old GXL i owned for 9 years either. Strange rotary quarks!
