first gen motor and trans into 2nd gen car

I need some help. I am on a limited budget. I have a 1986 rx7 se with a 13b motor and trany to match. I blew up the motor. Well there was a guy that my friend knew that needed money so I was able to buy a 1982 rx7 with a 12a and five speed. with only 12300 mile on it sense it was rebuilt. I don't have to worrey about the mount situation I am woundering if The 13b fuel injection will bolt up to the 12a engine or if I can make the 12a work with out changing the wireing harnesses. The 12a runs awsome and I don't want to let it go to waste.

hehe. dont skimp out??? on the 12a How it gets better fuel miles, and better realibiliy??

i think it is a Great idea, i don t think the 13B manifolds will go to it, but if u used the carb and coils ECT from the Fb i think it would be pretty cool, it would be a little slower, but hell itz worth the realiblity and fuel miles somtimes..

The 12A is a stout engine, but a 13B doesn't have alot of horsepower stock, imagine 50 less with a 12A.

100ish HP in a 2650lb chassis?

I know one thing, I raced my friend with his camaro in my 86 rx7 13b and I could bearly keep up, he walked away from me the whole time till he hit about 125 mph and then I caught back up to him and passed him because I had a higher top end. I then raced him with my other 82 rx7 12a and I stayed about a car length ahead of him and at about 100 I just pulled away, I kept on gaining distance. I was told that the previous owner raced it. The moter can't be stock because It is way faster than the 86 13b. My friends camaro pulled a 14.7 at the drags with mega tire spin. I don't think that the car will be that under powerd. Plus I would like to to some mods also.

One you going need custom mounting to get the motor in place. 1st gen motors mount off the front cover and FCs mount off the center iron. Its easier to put a FC motor into a FB than a FB motor into a FC.

My 12A FB dynos at 91.5 RWHP pretty much stock with cheap muffershop exhaust setup.

I'd love a nice Carbed FB.

Keep the FB man, save up for a nice TII drivetrain for your FC

Yea you should definately not sell out your FC or your FB like that... Just drive the FB until you get a rebuild or a used shortblock for the FC... I mean hell you can buy a running S4 shortblock for $300 all damn day...

I have both an FC and FB as DD's, the FC has exhaust and some suspesion mods, the FB has everything, total suspesion, tires and wheels, widebody and a 12a-1/2 bp-1/2sp. The FB smokes the FC in every category, except cruising under 3k rpm and fuel milage. Lately the FC sits most of the time since I finished the FB.

Keep the FB and drive it, save up for another motor for the FC.
