First exhaust ticket

First exhaust ticket
I just got the car registered yesterday, and got my first inadequate exhaust violation ticket.
Cop "have any idea why i pulled you over"
Me "my exhaust is too loud"
well anyway i went on to explain that i just got the car on the road and that it is the exhaust that came on it and i planned to fix it.
Well he came back with a ticket and also mentioned that the exhaust smelled bad.
I tried to explain that it is a different type of engine and thats just the way it is.
Good thing he couldn't give me a ticket for rich exhaust!
Crap part is that i saw him from a while away and idled past him but he still got me.
Well anyway, now i have to do something about this.
I was thinking about one of these muffler inserts to try to tone it down, of just a new muffler all together.
Then i got to thinking, what if i just postpone the court date as long as i can, so by the time the court date comes it will be the end of summer and i will be taking the car off the road anyway. Then i'll pay my ticket and don't even have to mess with the exhaust.
Will this work, or can i get more tickets for the same thing while awaiting a court date?
FYI, my car has a 3" downpipe into a straight 3" exhaust with a 6" long straight through 3" ID muffler at the end

I got pulled over for exhaust noise once. As I'm sitting there being told why I was pulled over a Harley with straight pipes goes by that was way louder than my car. I politely asked if he was going to go after him next? He says Harleys are just loud from the factory. I jokingly said, "Wanna bet?" Well he didn't like my attitude all of a sudden but allowed me to explain that every Harley comes from the factory with mufflers and the dealers usually install the pipes after the sale as part of the purchase. I said I didn't think it was fair that I was singled out when he could SEE I had two mufflers on the car.
I might have gotten off but he said something else stupid and I asked if he had gotten a db reading to put on the ticket. I ended up in court with a judge that rode Harleys I figure because he let the fine go and just charged me costs after I explained the car had two mufflers on it, its just a rotary, they're loud.

Friggin' "rotaries are loud", "rotaries smell bad", etc. Ya right, rotaries and Civics too. You got ricer exhausts and need a tune up, simple as that.
You can politely avoid admitting guilt and fight for as much as you can legally get for things that aren't so bad or are technically legal. That helps. But easiest and cheapest way in the long run is to get a quiet exhaust and fix your car.

yeah the exhaust is pretty loud.
I like the way it sounds, but i hate how loud it is (sounds good but gets annoying).
Im going to look into the racing beat products.
Would just a RB muffler do the trick do you think? I really hate the fart can looking thing anyway.

Glad to see you got it back on the road. Hows the compression holding up?
I didn't recognize your exhaust (at least the muffler), so keep in mind that it is probably a 'custom' setup and may not be in the 'stock' arrangment. Therefore, you may not be able to just get a RB presilencer or a muffler and be a direct bolt-up.
Also, RB mufflers are meant to be in a dual exhaust setup. If you are looking for single outlet, usually the N-1 or Corksport exhaust are common ones, although still loud.
Remember how your car made mine sound like a stock toyota camry? I got the full RB downpipe,presilencer,y-pipe, muffler setup.

well rested,buffet o food
thats rediculous making you pop the hood and citing you for and altered intake. I also recently got a loud exhaust ticket. I took pictures (on my cell) of me putting the silencers in, showed it to the cop in court and they just made me pay court costs and dropped the ticket. My advice is put silencers in, take pics of before and after, then if that isnt enough offer to show the cop the difference in sound. If you have a good attitude, judges and police can sometimes possibly resemble decent human beings on occasion maybe.

yep the n1 that i have in my fc is reallly loud. but if u want get out of the ticket ( i did this) take the old muffler tip off and just weld on a bs tip and get the test done where it tells u how loud it is. then put ur old tip back on. thats wat i am doing. and as for the intake all i did was put the org. back on and passd the test. and repeat.

Well i got pulled over again today. I handed the officer my license as well as the ticket from the other day and he just let me go. Even if i can keep doing this, its not worth getting pulled over all the time. So i'm thinking a new muffler and a pre- silencer. As far as decibel readings, the law here is that anything other than the stock exhaust is illegal.
