First 87 TII project

Ok, so I bought this car in Alabama for $1800 and was told it ran and drove, that was about half way true because it did run and drive but not very well and not very far. So I had it towed back to Florida to start working on it.

Here are a few pictures of when I got the car.

As soon as I got the car home I had to put a battery in it and that let it run and re start when it died out at least. So I parked it for a few days and started ordering parts. I got NGK plugs and wires for it, emission block off plates and some vacuum hose and fuel line to start.

After just popping the hood I noticed that the top mount was not even connected all the way, fixed that and then pulled the CAS and re-stabbed it and set timing at 5atdc and it started and ran and idled.

Once all my parts came in I tore the UIM off and took the rats nest out, ran the fuel lines and new vacuum lines VIA a chart off a couple posts on here, except it was a little different because the car has a j-spec engine swapped into it so the FPR is on the lower fuel rail not the upper but that's fine, gave me time to take the injectors out and notice it also has 800cc secondary injectors and stock 550 lowers. And also the OMP was seized with the arm stuck wide open so then I ordered a kit from pineapple racing (which is SO helpful since it has a how to DVD lol )

So with all the new parts, new fuel filter and tune up, changed the oil, changed the rear diff fluid as well as when it was all apart I did the TB mod via Rotary Resurrection , and put the engine back together, and rebuilt the OMP so I don't have to run pre mix (even though I still put some in the fuel for extra lubrication just in case) and after all that I drove it around, set the TPS to 1v and got the car to idle without any emissions or thermowax and it idles at 950rpm and seems perfect since I have a upgraded walbro fuel pump, did not check to see if a 190 or 255, but assume its big because its loud as ****, all you can hear behind the car and it has a turbo back racing beat exhaust.

This is after cleaning, it was nasty as all heck in side, I took out the huge tachometer that was screwed into the dash, a boost gauge that was just sitting in the dash vent, and still trying to find replacement parts to get rid of the indiglo gauges that are in the car to get it back to stock.

This is while tearing the motor apart about a month ago when I first got the car, then the other three are from today after I took the side moldings the rest of the way off, sanding it down and re-painting the sides of the car and then re painting the mirrors black as well today, a little progress at a time while I gather parts, next plan is a different set of wheels and lowering suspension, but will probably get a wideband and a new boost gauge first.

Now the car and I have been fighting back and forth for a while but another member SATCH and a few other guys on the forum been helping me when it breaks down, I just tore the AFM apart and re-sealed it because a wire inside broke and wouldn't run, and sill having issues but while I was testing some readings at the ECU for voltage input and outputs I ran across my AFM being from a NON TURBO #326 13 210 instead of the TURBO # 318 13 210 , so that is my new hunt rightnow, I will keep this updated every other weekend as this project grows, and I will post up a few more pictures of some wiring issues and other issues I found when I got this car, you guys will either laugh or be shocked the car didn't catch on fire.

Was the car originally a Turbo or swapped? There's no reason for an NA afm being there unless he didn't put the effort in to getting a Turbo afm when the original went bad and didn't know they were different.

Yea it is a original TII chassis, the guy I bought it from had a lot of stuff messed up on the car, the TPS wasn't adjusted, the top mount wasn't installed correctly, the fuel pump was wired in the tank with the power wire's attached with a nut and bolt instead of ran to the pump mounting plate, it has rust in the tank and the ORIGINAL fuel filter, it had miss matched plug wires and different brand plugs, the list goes on man, it is all fixed now except now trying to find the correct AFM

IIRC, the Indiglo faces are just overlays, the stock faces are underneath.
If so, you should be able to just remove the white faces and reuse the cluster you have.

Ok I'll tear them apart and see what it is. I am in the middle of trying to find a TII AFM part # N318 , I have a non turbo AFM on there rightnow and didn't know it.
