Finished installing the RB headers and presilencer!!!

Thanks to you nice and helpful people on rx7club, i succesfully installed the RB presilencer and Header. I have no idea about the gains yet since i havent reved it pass 3k due to a few things: Today is Christmas (Merry Christmas EVERYONE!!!) and most likely everyone is at home eating a nice family get-together meal...and my exhaust can be heard from the moon.... im not sure if i have a exhaust leak or sumthing, but its REALLY loud... much louder than i expeted (even with the CS silencer on, its was a lot worst with it off)... maybe its because i have a CorkSport Catback??? Anybody have simuliar sound problems? now my car is louder than any civic with a fart an out there. =(
Well, the sound is kinda raspy, but its ok... and hopefully i can get out sumwhere tomorrow and take a few sound clips so i wont annoy my neighbors

again, THaNKs EVERONE!!!

LoL, I am running with a HEADER myself, it was going to the gutted cat then out to the Aerospeed Muffs. It was semi loud like that, So upon the advice from the race shop I put on a resinator in place of the gutted cat. Well its way louder now, but sounds like a friggin V8.

I get get all sorts of whats under the hood questions. So any suggestions on lowering the volume a bit?

i just came back from a little cruise out in the rain... the car is so ridiculusly raspy and loud.... lol....i expect loud but it sounds like a civic now.... danmit.... having some regrets... the power gain is good...but then i wouldnt rev as high as i would before due to the volume...on top of the amount of cops there are around here im almost garaunteed a fix-it ticket!! lol
will a RB catback make it less raspy???
does anyone think i have an exhaust/header leak???

thanks~~!!!

BTW: Do you guys get any flames with ths set up?? if so, around what conditions do you get them??? (dont want to shoot a flame when a cop is near on accident...lol)

Congratulations, glad it worked out in the end.

I've also heard that the CS catback is very loud, especially with a header. I've got a full RB system on my car, and I love it. Not ricey at all.

Also, you're comparing like a ~$300 catback to a $650+ catback. You get what you pay for...and according to RB a lot of R&D has gone into their products, and they have a lot of people (including myself) who will vouche for their products.

Not bagging on CS in anyway, heard they make good products and all, but I've been more than happy with my RB system. The RB exhaust is also quite heavy, due to the thick-walled tubing used.

Enjoy!
James

EDIT: You will shoot flames, only on deceleration/shifting though. I can get flames when driving my S4 to around 7300 (7000 redline), letting off the gas to shift or just to be a *****, there will be a nice PUFF sound. I've been told there's fire and smoke rings

Check out my exhaust videos by searching thread titles. I have the same setup and I shoot alot of flames at the end.

CS's system is light and brings on alot of power but at a cost. I found myself chugging threw town alot more and scared to go into WOT half the time. I'm looking into Apexi GTSpec, Borla, and a RB exhaust at the moment and waiting to see which is what I want. A Corksport is almost too loud for an NA with a header and no cats .

imo CS is a race only exhaust and you will wind up adding another muffler and the resonator to quiet it down to a reasonable level.

I second that. Dual might be the only choice for a NA wihtout cats .

Did you use the racing beat gasket?? I put mine one without that at first, sounded like a lawn mower, put the gasket it on and it sounds better.

I get flames with the same exhaust system here and there. If I go past redline a little bit it works like a charm.
