what is the hood made out of? Is that carbon fiber? I'm guessing its fiberglass. I recently bought an aluminum NA hood and I'm going to go something similar to yours. But I'll be heating and bending the aluminum. I'm also making fiberglass OEM stock S5 front spoilers. The first 5 should be done by then end of this week.

How about a trade? Lip (+$$?) for a hood? I'd like to see your worksmanship on that hood. Looks good.

hey iliketoeatunclebens i pm'ed ya back...ARD should be helping out.....and about the hood ARD there is no integrated hood latch.....makes the hood lighter, the car lighter, and costs everyone less.....and kenshin......we decided to make the hood out of depleted uranium.....cheap source of raw material.....we send rice to iraq in trade for old spent ammo...we press it and sell it to you....makes the car stronger, glows in the dark and will make ur radiant personaliity even more so......loool ....its my birthday and im on the forum so i feel like being a smartass lool.....yes the hood is out of fiberglass and aluminum underpinning and integrated hinges...and the S5 lip sounds good but i have an s4 that obviosly doent look the 83k on the clock and we are making our own full on kit if we can recupe loses from our investment on the hood.......

aight joe....just had a lil pm with Ian......so i made up my mind....we are going to go ahead and mold the underside of my hood....the original pos underside and glass it in.....use alum reinforce for the hinges...it would be lighter and flex less and fit the stock underhood bumps.....plus in the end it will cost us less in both time and money...plus when we put the hood back on our car u can always throw the stock insulation back on the underside and u dont have to worry about heat warp to the glass.......so thats it i made up my mind.....so i didnt waste a week making it all nice and pretty....so thanx Ian......and by the way....here is my idea for the front.....take the top from the cwest....drag the lines from the s5 down......then like ian was telling me last month....just have a block right in front of the tires instead of canards......help with airflow...it isnt final but thats why i oput this so you guys can throw some input......kinda like design your own shnit....now how many people have the opportunity for that...i dont mean to hijack my own thread...just some news....hood is basically going to be much prettier and simpler underneath.....and here is my idea for our new kit minues skirts and rear

will the aluminum hinges be detrimental to the steel portion of the car to the attach to? IIRC steel and aluminum dont mix very well.

there wil be no more aluminum hinges.......it will be a copy of stock underside with aluminum glassed in to reinforce the hinge area...so no more contact with aluminum to IIRC steel

Hi guys. I visted Dltreezan today to check out his hood (I'm interested also). I must say, it is a nice design. I especially like the Al renforcement strips and design of the scoop. It is stiff and not as flimsy as most of the 'glass hoods I've seen for other cars. You guys will be happy, especially for the price.
