FINALLY! Pics of my Turbo II all ready to go...IT WORKS!!!!!

We went throught SO much **** getting this car ready...from having to bore out a broken temp sender to a Pulsation dampener shooting fuel 10 feet in the air! It was an absolute nightmare...one thing after another...but damnit! we hung in there and its DONE!!! here are a few pics:

Me giving the car it's first bath since November:

My friend Tommy sharing in the fun:

ALL CLEAN!

My favorite shot:

quick shot of the engine (pic sucks...and ignore the stock air box, a friend had my intake and he forgot to bring it in time for the grand re-cranking!):

The finger chopper!!:

Thats it for now.Im so damn excited to have this thing going again, here are a few of the highlights:

---race ported engine
---Hurley racing seals
---ported wastegate
---removed twin scroll
---removed all emissions
---removed power steering
---gutted cats (3" exhaust on the way!)
---16" perma cool

Some other little odds and ends...but thats the jist of it! Sorry about the long post!

---Nick

Dude that perma-cool is NOT going to do the job in the summer. You need a shroud on it, or a different fan.

p.s. you will also have cooling problems without the under tray too... and it also looks like you removed the plastic parts in the nose in front of the core support. Without the undertray and those parts (or a panel in the same general location) air will tend to flow AROUND (above and below) the radiator instead of through. You NEED those to keep it cool, especially with a modded motor.

I beg to differ, have you ever used one? That thing flows so much air that it literally blows your hair back...literally. Not only do I have the permacool pulling but i have a stock fan pushing...i guarantee that setup flows more air than anything else...especially stock. My temp is way down over stock already!

Yes... I have one on my 88 'vert. It gets too hot in traffic in the summer. Not enough airflow due to no shroud.

Oh... and I have the undertray and the nose parts in place. The perma cool blows a lot of air... but it sucks air in around the edges, which is what a shroud prevents. You WILL have cooling problems with a perma cool if you don't shroud it. I have a bigger than stock radiator and a mostly-stock NA motor... it gets hot. New waterpump, new MAZDA thermostat, everything in good shape. It just doesn't flow enough air due to no shroud.

Kinda right, but with a sorta unclear reason.. without the undertray, when you're at speed, all that air your car is moving through is going to take the path of least resistance, which is under the car and up through into the engine bay (via where the undertray USED to be). This will create higher pressures in the engine bay and also disallow much air from flowing through the radiator. Your engine will not be a happy camper.

The tires are 205/55/ZR16. As for the rims, I noticed that the other day...BOTH the front rims are on backwards!!! The bitch is I have to actually go and get them swapped because the tires are directional! so until then, not too many people will notice

While I do appreciate your concern and effort to help me out, and I really do, I have a couple friends who live here in Alabama and run the same setup with cars that are more modified than the red one, and they really do flow fine with no shroud. One of them also has a pusher fan, the other only a perma cool. If one day my car starts running hot ill come find you and grovel

HA! I just wanted to point out that one thing keeping it from being absolutely perfect

I had my brakes done a couple of weeks ago. I checked the wheels before I left.

Beautiful car.

Thanks MikeL. What suspension are you running on your car? I have always LOVED the way your car sat. How low is it? Now that my cars running again...gotta get rid of that nasty wheel gap

In traffic is when mine stays the coolest. It does get a bit warm on the interstate, but its cause I have no underpan (wasn't on the car when I got it).

I have the same fan, no underpan. (never had it...) Car runs way hotter then with the stock fan/shroud. Im probably going back to stock, I might try a shroud first..
