yes any of the LT series can be tuned by laptop or handset. i think the haltec runs in dos while the microtech is windows based.

Same here...save to log...replay...there's about 3 different ways to watch it:

1. Setup screen (few gauges, info at bottom)
2. Gauges screen (everything)
3. Log screen (while logging for realtime values...then you can stop logging scroll around and see what just happened)

There is haltech software for both dos and windows. The DOS version is nice as it doesnt have steep hardware requirements, meaning you can dust off that old 486 laptop and put it to use in your car.

anyone ever thought of permanently mounting up a custom box for the computer or something?

(using these tiny tiny all inclusive motherboards?)

http://www.mini-itx.com

533 mhz, totally fanless design, onboard everything, including on board TV OUT.

If you're going to do that you might as well just get the handset. The big advantage of using a laptop instead of a handset is the much bigger screen. Nearly all of the parameters can be displayed at once, with a much clearer graphical representation.

On a laptop. The handset just gives you numbers, but a laptops various graphs and displays make it much easier to get an overall view of the parameters being adjusted.

It may look nice, but with a TID and a cold-air box it would make more power...

i see.. i was just thinking a custom job with a mini-itx board.. then pop in a little 10" screen or something..

but i guess that would be considered a luxury, especially when you can connect and disconnect the laptop..
