It finally idles!

After a long battle with vacuum leaks on my new rebuild, i finally got the car to idle tonight after carefully rienstalling all new intake gaskets and torqing them to spec.

The car now idles at a very bumpy 800 rpm. Its nice because I can turn AC on, lights on, and use the PS and it wont die, it will stay at 800-900!

The only problem is right now its a very bumpy 800 rpm idle. it kinda braps from 700-900 rpm but I suspect that that is due to the engine bieng a rebuild with only about 50 miles on it.

Anyone else see this is normal for a rebuild?

I was amazed what a different the new gasket made. If you get one of the new metal gaskets, BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE TSB WHEN INSTALLING IT! I didnt and it cracked the gasket I used and had to put a new one on

While I was at it i pulled out my 6p actuators, plugged them up with a dime then jb-welded them in place. not ghetto at all!

I expoxied my shiney new pineapple racing sleeves into the engine in the open position. Should be fun!

Sounds like a typical rebuild. Consider yourself lucky it runs and everything is fine except a slightly lumpy idle. You might even just need to readjust the TPS.
