Finally doin it right.
For those that dont know me ( most of you), this is the second time trying to build my car. Only the first time I did a shitty job and tried to do everything quick and it didnt work out... This time however im taking my sweet time and paying attention to details... T70, FMIC, clutch, flywheel,720cc injectors, 3" exh, new paint, wheels, and top are all part of the build.... So far I have everything mechanical wise, just need the paint, wheels and top. I only have one pic so far, the other ones are to be shown when completed... This is my 4" thick FMIC no pipings yet...

sweet project, is it a street car only? You gonna drag race, autoX, track?
What kind of 3" exhaust you got? I plan on a full turbo back as my first real mod to my s4 t2 after i change my clutch.

That intercooler is huge, I think a little too big for a daily driver. Turbo lag is you new buddy, and his friend heat soak is hitching a ride
This gonna be an autocrosser?

HEat soak?? I dont think I will have problems with the temps..... And yes this will be street driven and lag is good for me... Im never down for street racing, but always up for some highway fun... I dont expect much numbers with the setup, but should be a pretty quick vert... and If I run in the 1/4 mile, I would be more interested in the mph than the e.t.

yeah, please tell me u had a typo!! if that thing is 4 inces thick, ur gunna need bigger than 720cc injectors to boost at a low effciantcy for that thing lol i would seriously consider using at least 1000cc injectors for a turbo/ ic combo such as that!!! u can push A LOT through that damn thing!!!
but the radiator hiding behind that does scare me!! how do u plan on getting the coolent cooled efficiantly??(yeah i know i cant spell )

lol I was kinda waiting for this type of responce. I promise that If I have anyproblems with the radiator/coolant, I will admit the mistake of putting on a gigantous intercooler....but I doubt it will have little to any to any affect at all

The only time I have problems with running hot is on the highway on a warm day. Car doesn't seem to like going 80mph for an extended period of time. I can only imagine an intercooler THAT big would cause some cooling issues.

thats cool... I want to see how these people run my piping.... I want some 3" piping for the cooled air, and maybe 2 1/2 or 21/4 for the compression side

I run with a Greddy fmic that covers the inlet area about 100 percent. The car does run higher temps but does not overheat. We're talking summer in Texas. But next year I'm getting a KOYO to lower the temps back to normal.
I've a KOYO in my other turboii that is more stock than not (tmic), and it runs tooooo cool. I don't like 150 degrees temps in the winter (stock, new, thermostat {go figure??})
Actually I like the red car with the cut out frame. Looks like it's been reinforced just below where the pipes run. Makes good sense to me. Need welding skills to do that though. Something I have not.

Jason, a friend of mine with a 10th ae runs probably the same size intercooler as that. There is minimal turbo lag on the stock unit. He will be runing a to4s, so that is why he chose to go so large. he also has a koyo aluminum radiator, and a black magic elec. cooling fan now. Before, it ran slightly hotter with just the stock rad. and a very small elec. fan.
I plan on running a 24.5"Lx12"Hx3" thick core for my setup (BNR stage III).

I had no Overheating problems, Koyo Radiator, 16'Be-cool E-Fan!! the fan was
almost 200$ compared to all others around 70$ there is a major difference between the two, when the fan is powered it sounds like a back-pack blower.
also made custom shroud to pull air across entire radiator. I had to cut the hood
underneathin the front to clear the pipes. So I drove the car for some time without a hood,
There was a huge diffrence in fan on-time when I did replace the hood. I a'm
planning to vent the hood, like the V-mount setups.
This picture was before I did the Intercooler.
p.s. these conditions were in the middle of the summer....DOIN IT RIGHT!!
