(FINALLY) Do I or dont I

I finally got my car painted, tagged and titled. Heres the run down. i have a 86 sport n/a . its streeported, bonez race pipe, apexi n1 dual exhaust, and an apexi air intake. I also have ngk spark plugs and plug wires. I took out the a/c and air pump. Its a brand new rebuilt engine with only 22 miles on it. I also have a brand new paint job. i will try to post pictures in the next few weeks. But heres my point i cant take it to the track to get the 1/4 time till i break it in. I dont have any payshients (**** in know thats spellt wrong oh well) to wait to get to the track. dose anyone have similar mods that has takin it to the track. post times and 0-60. I know I know this question has all ready been done a million times. but i cant find that much. please be a nice guy or girl if there is any and post. Also should i consider my car as one of the strongest n/a's.

Take it to the track ONLY if you have enought money to buy another motor when you pop the one you got.

Funny, I don't think he asked anywhere in that thread if he should or shouldn't take it to the track. However he did ask for some 1/4 mile slips. And strongest N/A? I'm doubting it

I wouldn't consider it one of the strongest n/a's until you've at least broken in your engine. Then again, there are some pretty strong na FCs out there... We both have different definitions of what a strong na is... I see one as being those that are still running in great condition despite the high mileage... I believe you're talking about hp, correct?

Funny, I didnt read that either. Just thought I would throw that in as a subtle warning, should the owner decide that he has run out of "payshients".

thx guys for at least saying something. so give me the run down on how to break it in properly. iam confused on how to do it. it is a 5 speed so tell me what i should shift at and how much rpms to not go past. also what are the effects if u didnt break it in right. oh ya 1 more thing i slapped my self after u showed me on how to spell patience. i had the biggest brain fart. there i slapped my self twice.

The biggest difference between you and others is that you're willing to learn... that brings you far ahead into the game. I don't remember the exact break-in procedure, but I'm sure someone will within minutes of posting this. I believe the break in is 500 miles (more?) and keep your rpms below 5000rpm (less?). Blah, this is why i let the KNOWLEDGEABLE handle this. I still learn everyday when I decide not to be a lounge rat.

Nothing over 40% throttle and 4k rpms. Lots of city driving. Oil changes at 500, 1000 and 1500 (new filter each time). Then do oil changes at 3k for the rest of the cars life. No synthetic oils until 1500 miles. Change the plugs @ 1500 too.

ok so i guess iam doing everything fine iam shifting at 3,500 no higher than about 3,800. so as long as i dont go over 4k rpms for the first 1,000 miles i will be ok. but here comes the big problem. i need to drive from florida to main. and i will probally only have about 400 miles on it. will driving all that way be to hard on the engine when its not broken in even if i dont go passed 4k rpm . i plane on getting an oil change about 300 miles outside of main wich would be about new york. and it would be at about 1500 miles on the new engine when i get to new york

with only 300-400 miles on the motor, it would not be a good idea to drive all that way on the highway. The rpm's need to be fluctuated a lot during the first 1000 miles. I'd suggest that whenever you have any free time, you sit your butt in that driver seat and break in that motor right before your trip, or find another car for the trip.

I have heard from a couple different sources that road trips are fine for breaking in engines. I remember Kevin Landers saying that someone hauled their car down, had the rebuild installed there, then drove it home.

Once you get that motor broken in the right way, i think you'll have high 14s, maybe low 15s depending on your driving skill, maybe even mid 14s. You have a really light car compared to other N/As so you should rock most of their ***** as long as you are a good driver.
