Finalllllllllly my S5 rotors are finished.

Shaved off some weight, balanced, and milled out to 3mm. And lets just say it ended up being MUCH cheaper then racing beats set.

You would be surprised at how often the balancing is done wrong though.

Looks good, was the weight removed for balancing only? Any of the lightened rotors I've seen have large areas behind the sideseal grooved milled down.

the fresh 3mm slots should serve you well

Now install them and come to DGRR

One pound? Someone's fishing and I'm not biting. You removed 1/19 of the entire rotor?

It honestly looks like from the pics that they were just balanced. The places where one would normally remove material are barely touched. But any material gone is a good thing.

not sure why you would lighten the rotors if you're not going to use a light flywheel

Each rotor is 9.5 lbs. 1 lbs was claimed to be removed from both rotors or .5 lbs from each. .5 is 1/19 of 9.5

That rotor has not been lighten. if you look by the side seals are there is no material taken away. Also were the roll pins are Racingbeat installs snaprings to keep the inner bearing hub from coming out. I think you got taken.
Thanks Robert

why are you using the stock flywheel? is this going to be a drag racer on slicks?

Thats the first time I've heard of that being done.. I would think removing weight from the outside areas would be much better than removing weight from the inside. All the lightened rotors I've seen have had material removed from the outside. It does look like your rotors just had some removed from the outside just for balancing..

has your guy done other rotors the same way?
im no expert, but it seems that if I had a rotating mass that I wanted lighter it would be less stressfull on the rotating assembly if I removed the weight from the outer edges, this way there is less rotating mass.

Just discussing thats all.

was told that removing weight from the side seal could cause those areas to collapse under high rpm runs (keep in mind this is auto/roadracing .. so lots of high revs and on/off throttle constantly)

i wanted the benefits the flywheel had for the autocross purposes.
