Final verdict on apex seal springs?

Ok, had to have my motor pulled cause of a crack in the front plate. Anyway, since it's out, I'm having it street ported. The motor will have RA 2mm seals...I'm also reading that the RA springs are garbage and that mazda springs are the way to go. So is everyone here of the same opinion here? If so, where is the best place to order a full set of these springs, or should I just get them from the dealership? Part #'s?

Thanks.

From what I've read... RA seals are too hard, and WILL wear on your housings. They also tend to flatten the springs under them (especially if they're RA springs) from excessive heat generated by increased friction on the housings. It seems the average life of an engine with RA seals (before it starts to lose compression, and you see chatter and scoring marks on your housings when taken apart, sometimes even galling) is about 4-20k miles, with some going over 40k. This is what I've gathered from the forum, I'll try to dig up the link.

yea i've read alot of links...i'm still gonna stay with ra seals. The motor in question here was rebuilt about 1500 miles ago...the housings look identical to when it was put together 1500 miles ago...i'm just switching out the springs while it's out now and having it ported.

Read this the whole way through before putting RA seals in your engine.

Mazda springs have a inconell content in them....hence the price....RA springs dont have that material in them and can't hack the heat.
