filter seal

i just put in my new k&n panel filter. the bolts that are supposed to hold the air box on are all sorts of fucked up. only 3 of the 8 actually screw in and hold it tight. 2 of them dont do much because the thread that was supposed to be built into the plastic so i can screw in is pulled out. the other ones just sit there. pretty much the whole top half of it isnt really together like it should be. its not like gaping open, but is it safe to run the car with it like this? i did use the k&n sealer oil if that helps any. does anyone have any left over parts they could send me because i know a lot of you took it off for a cone filter. thanks.

take the loose screws out and use zip ties. i did that w/ no problems until i upgraded to a K&N cone. also i left the metal liner in each hole. it seemed to hold better.

I only have 2 screws holding in my stock air box as of now. Both on the left side. The plastic piece that goes from the snorkel holds it in place for me. By the way I only had 2 screws to begin with but will be doing away with the stock air box.

Sometimes you have to improvise (duct tape – bailing wire – JB weld)
