Fiero Gt

my friend has a 88 fiero gt that runs consistent 15.7s (need to get my car to the track) and every time we race im ahead by about 3 1/2 car lengths at about 80 to 90 mph and as far as i know my 86n/a is stock cept for the frankinstien exaust the previous owner put on.

so i guess my questions are am i just dilusional (thought stock n/a's were suppost to run 16.7s) or would my frankinstien exaust alone net me a mid 15?

and the last question would be does anyone have any good pics of the stock exaust so i could compare the two.

thx Zack

Rule of thumb, for each car length, subtract 1/10th of a second.&nbsp This would make for a solid mid 15-second 1/4-mile FC...

Probably gutted the cats. Does it smell of gas fumes? Has it passed a sniffer test?

sniffer test, i couldnt pass one if they stood 50 yards away behind a brick wall in a rose garden

and there is a very slight gas smell, very light

oh yea my mufflers have stainless steel tips on them that are part of the mufflers (yes i know that doesnt add horsepower, but im pretty sure the jimmy eat world sticker does), just wish there was an easy way of telling what is on the car

Removing or gutting the cats is worth like 15 horsepower according to racing beat. I don't believe it but they say so.

Took this dirrectly from racing beats website:

Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe with Presilencer*
1986-91 RX-7 Non-Turbo (equipped with Manual Transmission)
(For convertible - manual transmission see part no. 16209)
The 1986-91 RX-7 Replacement Pipe/Presilencer combination incorporates a 2.5-inch O.D. Down Pipe and our perforated stainless steel core and stainless steel wool-packed Presilencer to boost power approximately 13% - an 18 horsepower increase on a 1987 RX 7- and maintain a comfortable exhaust noise level during full power driving.
The replacement pipe connects to the factory exhaust manifold, and the presilencer connects to the factory Y-pipe, replacing all catalytic converters and intermediate tubing.
This kit includes all necessary mounting hardware, air control & check valve cover plate, and gaskets (Back Pressure Pick-up and Replacement Pipe-to-Presilencer gasket only). We also offer the Down Pipe separately for those building custom exhaust systems. (Part No. S16206)
*Legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway.
