Question How common is the Fiero e-fan in GMs?

I called around town today looking for an e-fan out of a Fiero. Finally found a lot with "several." I drive down and find out that they don't have any. The **********.

But he points to his computer and says that the computer claims that the same fan that was used in the Fiero was also used in a bunch of other GMs. I'm outta time, my big project for the day includes installing a Fiero fan, so I picked out what looked like the best one there. It's out of a... **** - the receipt is in the car. I'd get it but I'm about to crash - long day. :eyeshalfopen:

Wait, I think it was an Olds 88. Mid-nineties, maybe.

I've thrown it in and it seems to be okay. Pulling plenty of air and definitely quieter than that POS Lumina fan that used to be in there. Nice fit on the rad, too.

But I can't quite get over that this fan ISN'T out of a Fiero. I don't know who put that 411 in his computer or if it's correct or if the guy is just a lying *****.

I didn't pay much for the fan - $40 Cdn, and I can take it back, minus the restocking fee. I knew I could have just said **** You and walked out, but this was a project I've been waiting to do all summer. And I don't care about the restocking fee (which'll be $10.) This is about getting my 7 in the kind of shape I want her to be in.

So, could someone tell me whether this guy fed me a line of bs or not?

As long as your temps are ok then don't worry about it. BTW, how many blades does the fan have? I pulled two fiero fans (one from a GT and one from a base) and one fan had 5 blades and the other had 6. I chose the one with 6 but have yet to install it in my car.

5 blades. And there are 7-bladed Fiero ones.

The fan I chose continues to perform well. I put a Flex-a-lite temp switch on it and ran it right to the battery so she'll continue to run after the car is off (I hate shutting her down when the factory gauge is still at half after a hard run.) This is the set-up I've been jonesing for since last spring.
Looks like I'll stick with the fan unless someone says fer-sure that it ain't what I was told it is.

And that guy at the yard is still a **********.

Possibly. My teacher used to be a GM rep. and he said that the Fiero was actually designed using parts from different cars GM made at the time. Eg. the chassis was a Chevette's chassis turned backwards.

gm did use use alot of the same parts on vehicles, but the chevette is rear wheel drive, they used the front suspention out of the chevette in the front of the fiero and the front spindles out of a citation for the back.
