the body kit and hood are made by AWR in Escondido, Ca. As for the headlight cut outs this is a simple job and could be cut and fit by any body and paint guy. the hood is very thin and easy to cut and finish. I have not decided on a color, maybe yellow or silver and yellow no squares. other than the choice of paint that car(red/white FC with squares) is very trick and very fast. my email address is tim@wanaboo.com. sorry no carbon parts at this time. maybe down the road.

That's one of the BEST looking fiberglass hoods I've even seen, period.&nbsp I don't suppose you have a weight for that thing?&nbsp It looks like it took an awful amount of resin to get everything to set like that...

very light with only the minimum of resin used. it is not even gelcoated to help save weight. I would guess less than ten pounds. I will weigh it eventually but at the moment I don't know the exact weight. it is easily lifted by one person.

oh yeah. Can't wait to see the painted/primered pics.

The convertible needs weight reduction the most.

at this point in time there are no carbon parts planned. these are parts for several race cars so ease of manufacture and cost of materials is an issue. for us there is no real reason for CF. you could skin the fiberglass hood with a fiber weave for the CF look.

What's everybody's infatuation with CF? It's not going to be any lighter than fiberglass. And like Tim says, you could just lay a weave on top of the fiberglass if you just want the look. I don't know the whole process of doing it, but it could be done fairly easily.

How much does an NA aluminum hood weigh? How strong is this hood? I guess it must be strong enough to handle a track day; but what about a rock from a mack truck tire on the highway? How will it handle the underhood heat, and how will paint be effected by this? This sounds like a great product.

this hood is very thin and very light. not designed to deflect beer cans and other highway debris. not sure your OEM hood would take that type of abuse without damage. It will withstand any normal underhood heat and paint work is up to the skill of the painter. As for the CF weave treatment. it would take laying another sheet of material onto the hood and resin to coat. If we make it out of carbon it would still look the same when painted, flat and smooth. to get the weave look they add the top layer(my understanding of the process, I am not a fiberglass or CF expert). most pieces that are molded are flat and smooth like the mold. to change the process now would make the parts even more expensive and I am not sure if the mold is designed for these resins. for weight savings you cannot beat these parts. if you are looking for a stylish replacement part this is not what we are trying to sell. plus I don't think there are many options for us turbo II owners and racers. It is very expensive and difficult to prototype these parts so any changes are very costly.
