Few Questions: j-spec engines and idle problem
My freinds T2 just went through a j-spec swap. can it pass CA emssions if he put on all the emmision parts on the car.
Also, The car has this idleing problem. When you start the car, it dies unless you hold the gas for a minute or 2. and after that the idle is rough and the engine shakes. Can a leaky bov cause this problem?
any ideas?
Thanks

Okay, officially in CA you can upgrade the motor to a newer year if you also upgrade all the emissions (including the computer) to that same newer year.
But un-officially, most smog shops don't know the model and VIN break down, so as long as it is a not a 86, when the CA smog computer comes up, the smog tech can either enter Turbo or non Turbo and test accordingly. Of course they will still want to see the EGR, and cats, and other emissions equippment intact.
