ive been thinking/ worring about my auto tranny in my vert.. had me thinking about somethings... also somethings about getting more power... yeah yeah yeah i know auto's suck and im not gonna get that much power........

but anyways..... can u put a automatic transmission that came out of an FD in to an n/a FC? ...... ive heard that they are alittle more beefed up then the ones that are in the FC..... thanks guys ... any advice would be great ... except for the auto to manual conversion....

try using an auto tranny from a tII, they work great. I had a ride in one(jspec fc) with aprox. 390 hp and it shifts great and fukin drives very damn good.

Isn't the FD auto trans some piece of junk from the MPV minivan?

Not to mention they're electronicly controlled, so you'd have to swap out the AT computer's and figure out that wiring mess and so forth.

If you are really worried about reliability, learn to drive stick (if you don't know how to, that is) and drop in a manual trans. It will save you a lot of headache, and make driving your vert a much more rewarding experience. The auto 'vert is the slowest seven ever made. I understand that speed may not be a deciding factor for you, but for reliability's sake, lose the slushbox.

for the TII auto, its basically just plug and play... Except you can play alot harder.

the FD tranny is not stronger. Most drag racers swap their FD stuff for a FC tranny and rear end.

What mods do you have? If you go tII you need the whole drivetrain. flywheel, clutch, PP, driveshaft and rear end...

Whats wrong with the automatic?
Flush the ATF with synthetic, and drive it until it breaks.

This is an excellent transmission(family) that is used in many vehicles(Nissan/Mazda/Subaru) over the years.

my transmission just shifts really hard it revs up to almost 3800 rpms and then it shifts and pulls back when it does shift..but as for the my transmission is good .. but ive been thinking and kinda was told that if i get a better tranismission id have alittle bit more power..then i heard that the fd automatic transmission was alittle beefed up.. so i thought i could maybe go that way... a bit pricey ... but i dunno... im wanting to get more power and all ... but i dont want to do the manual swap (cant drive a stick and ive tryed just dont like it) i know that would be the best way to get power and all .. but i dont like the manual.. so the tII would be useless cause id have to do that swap to manual ... .. what really can i do.. ive had an automatic bmw .. and it was betterin go then my 7..

SK® N4AEL

929 & RX7
1988-90
Corrects/Prevents/Reduces:
1-2 slide; spin up 2-3; 3-2 cut loose; mushy 4th;
soft lockup; soft shifts.

please be a bit patient with me ... im SO new to pretty much all of this.. thanks guys...

Most shift kits are just corrections for sloppy shifting OEM transmissions.

What you need to do is see if the tranny can be upgraded with the GUTS from the FD or any vehicle using the same transmission family. Find a core from the FD, a core from the FC, and locate a shop willing to do some THINKING.
A competent/reputable shop will know how closely related the transmissions are.
Sometimes a stronger tranny just has a couple more parts to it(like extra clutches, better ATF pump, little more ATF PSI.......).
