fd rotor housing in my engine?
Has anyone used a FC s4 13BT rotor housing with a fd rotor housing? I know the plug holes a bit different from s4 to s5, but BDC seemed to have 0 problems running 400rwhp with s4/s5 housing mix. Can I do it safely?

Basically, all rotorhousings are the same thing, after 85. 87-91 t2 housings had the coolant passage on the LIM, but that can be blocked off with a plug easily enough. The only other differences are exhaust diffusers (86-91 NA's) that can be cut out with a torch or grinder, and plug timing (between s4 and s5+).
Me personally, I wouldnt mix the housings with different plug timing, but I doubt you'd EVER see a problem if you did. I do mix and match housings sometimes, especially for my own engines. For example, my FD is running 2 s5 NA housings with the diffusers cut out of the exhaust. My t2 vert is running 2 s4 NA rotorhousings, and the turbo's coolant feed is pulled from another spot. I have also built many a t2 engine with an NA front housing, because you don't need that coolant port there anyway...if I dont have a good t2 housing, this is a good way to build a good engine on a low budget.
The FD housing is just an s5 NA housing with no exhaust port diffuser, really.

I know this one is old. So a FD housing is the same as an S5 without the difusser or the same as a tii without the water port. So for an s5 na the best setup should be fd hosings, right?

There is no advantage one way or another, though I imagine FD housings are coated better and last longer than s5 housings (in the same way s5 housings are coated better than s4's). That, and the lack of exhaust diffusers...but I cut those out with a torch anyway, so it is no big deal. So yes, I suppose you could say that FD housings would be best.
