FD Power steering pump in FC?

Hey Guys,

I'm currently building a FC with a 13B RE and am in the middle of doing the V mount setup and plan to use the FD water pump housings as the water inlet and outlet are pointed in more favorable direction for this. Now using this setup means i can run the FD power steering pump as the factory S5 wont line up and uses a different pulley, plus the S5 power steering pump sits so dam high and its kinda in the way.
Looking at a FD power steering pump they only have two lines a feed and return and a single wire for the pressure sensor, where as the FC has 3 lines a sensor and a computer under the dash.
Has anyone installed a FD pump into a FC?
I was planning to get a two feed lines made up which come off the S5 rack and join together to fit the FD pump and unplug the computer as the FD doesn't have one.

Cheers

Um mate why go through all the effort ? Just use the cosmo pump and pullies, I think the PS plug is more similar to the FC one.

If the outlet points are really a issue just go a ewp, will be easier and more flexible to your application.

Thanks for the reply mate, but the PS pump is the main issue as it sits to high, the FD ones sit alot lower. Maybe i should go for a manual rack then? or a electric PS pump like the MR2's run.

does the RE engine use a serpentine belt pulley system or V belt? i forget. that right there will determine which route will be basically your only option to go with aside from having custom pulleys made.

looks like V belt to me, which means FC pump, which means cut the bottom off the stock bracket and simply lower the p/s pump down if clearance is an issue. forget the REW pump because it will involve similar clearance issues, more custom plumbing, rewiring(which still won't resolve the p/s compatability issue)and pulley difference issues. i'm sure you can make it work but i don't think you realize how much more difficult it would be. you will also need the mounting bracket from an REW as well.

Mmmmm cut the bracket... that maybe a good idea, i have all RE stuff brackets pumps you name it same with a FD and a FC 13B, just trying to build one mean engine and make it all work.

are you only trying to drop it for looks ?

Personally I removed the PS with my 13bRE conversion.

its a lot of work, but a friend of mine used the FC pump on the FD bracket, it'll bolt right up. he then spent HOURS making the FD pulley fit on the FC pump.

actually he spent like a DAY filing something, but i don't remember exactly what.

The reason I'm wanna go FD pump is because it fits on the FD ps bracket, and the whole thing sits allot lower than the FC ps pump. The FC setup causes outlet issues for my v mount setup. Spoke with a guy today who gave me some ideas on how to use the FD pump on the S5 rack, so I'm going ahead and will post up picks and a write up if it does work as this will be a complete both up method with no custom pulleys etc.. well thats my aim.

Hi, wondering how this conversion went for you? I'm looking into doing this on my Fc build.
