FD port housings

i know that FD engines cant find in FCs, but can you fit a FD port housing in a FC, or is that the same thing, the port housings is what holds the motor mounts, right?

What about the oil pan?
Are you going to use the FC oil pan?
If you do, the 13B-REW front oil cover does not line up.

didint think about that. i guess you could look into a custom oil pan. so far thats what stops the idea, oil pan and motor mounts, correct? if it still mounts up stock wise, that could be kinda interesting to look into, but i doubt it does.

i guess you couldint really make a custom oil pan, you could...cut up and merge a FC/FD oil pan, but you wont find a gasket that fits...it would all have to be custom

For the gasket you could use RTV Silicone , Mazda uses the same thing on there rebuilds and from the factory on there cars.

doh, that made me think, your gonna have to make a custom header/manifold more then likely. maybe get a RB header, and cut it in half and fit to your needing.
this is sounding like alot of hassle for a little bit bigger ports....but that is where rx7s get there power, heh

still like the idea

Basically, it's the mounts problem that makes it a big hassle.
You've got 3 options:

1) Fabricate custom mounts to adapter 13B-REW engine mount points to FC engine mounts.  I don't like this idea, because you end up with a twisting force on the bracket due to the odd location points.  Engine mounts should only be taking a vertical loading force.

2) Weld in a cross-brace on the FC and use the stock 13B-REW engine mounts - I like this way the best.

3) Redrill the 13B-REW engine to fit the FC engine mounts and oil pan.  You'll need to address the front cover problem - either modify the FC oil pan or replace/modify the 13B-REW front oil cover.
