FD intake on a turboII
who would be interested in an adapter plate for this? the internal intake ports on a turbo II are larger than on an fd. and the fd manifold flows better. so what a friend of mine has done is to take a turboII motor, put 94 rotors in it and use an fd lower and upper intake manifold. we have a template made to adapt these two peices (turboII block and LIM) together. would anyone be interested? or do you have any input on why this would not be benificial in any way? or why it would be a hinderance?

Sounds pretty sweet. Wonder if converting to the 13B-REW rotors & intake requires a 3rd gen turbo for maximum efficiency?
I read about how the 2nd gen turbo's screw effect works more effecient with the 13B rotor at lower rpms/boost levels. Wonder if the 13B-REW twin-turbos, rotor, & intake are matched in a similar way?
Well I'm sure you'd get better volume at higher boost levels with the 3rd gen intake though. I'm just not sure how it would affect your overal powerband.

glad to see some other interest in this.
and no, you cant just bolt up an fd lower intake to the block. the ports are on somewhat of an angle. if you had the parts, and took a look at it or tried it, it doesnt work. i will get pics up this week sometime. (busy work schedule, so please be patient)

If you use the FC lower intake and the FD upper intake it is pretty close to a bolt on job.. Just a little port maching, and you have to match up 2 bolt wholes by rounding them out..

check your other post in the rotary performance forum for more answers
you will need and adapter plate,FD throttle cable,FD TPS sensor they flow much better than stock FC mani's. i personally ported the **** out of mine and removed tose stupid butterfly's on the inside, plus the FD TB is alot larger

I know I drug this from the basement, but I am doing research on adapting an FD U&LIM to my TII. Did anything ever come out of this?? A how-to, or parts needed......

I adapted an FD upper to a T-II lower quite easily like zyounker said. The FD lower runners hit the engine at a pretty steep angle since the runners inside the FD engine are also at an angle. Since the T-II runners don't do this I would rather personally use the T-II lower with the FD upper for the same effect. Actually the FD runners internally are smaller than the T-II runners but due to the FD upper being of a much better flowing design it flows more. The reason that the FD intake ports appear so huge in relation to the other rotaries is due to the fact that you are looking at a diagonal cut cross section instead of one straight on. Look down on it inline with the port runners and they are about the same as previous versions. I do like the FD housings better though. In no way am I saying that the FD lower can't work good on an FD. I'm sure someone has tried it and made it work good. I would just personally rather adapt the upper to work but that is just me.
