fd intake conversion

Hey

have a 1990 turbo rx7. going to order the greddy tb elbow for the fd. Im also waiting on someone to receive the fd upper intake manifold and throttle body. I ordered the feed plate to do the fd intake uim to the fc lim conversion. do i need anything else, maybe the fd throttle cabe or the fd tps sensor? I have a stock ecu

Thanks

You need to mod the oil filler tube - it doesn't fit.
You need to cut the brackets on the front of the upper intake manifold - it hits the secondary fuel injectors on the 13BT.
If you want to keep the air bleed system, you need to punch holes in the FD manifold, because it has no pre-TB vacuum fittings.
The FD TPS can be rewire for both the Zenki and Kouki TPS input to the stock ECU.

I don't know why you're trying to run the stock ECU - the fuel delivery is significantly different (our Haltech tuning), so it might not run real nice.

im going stand alone anyways(maybe haltech, microtech or power fc). Im also getting k2rd secondary fuel rail for the 1600cc injectors that i have already.do i still need to cut the brackets on the front of the upper intake manifold? what advantage/disadvantage is the air bleed system, sorry i dont know what purpose it serves.

thanks for your input ted, always appreciated.

How much improvement? (i.e. before and after dyno runs with no other mods in between).

Yes, it still needs to be cut.  If you're still running the top-feed Bosch or ND style fuel injectors, the front bracket needs to be cut.

It's supposed to aid better atomization of the fuel off the tip of the fuel injector.  For the primaries, it might cause a bad idle if you don't reinstall it - try without it to see if it changes your idle significantly.

No, you can keep the FC turbo throttle cable; the FD throttle cable is of similar length.

You can't use it without a lot of custom work.

Why would you want to use an S5 TPS?...half the reason for doing an FD manifold is to get rid of that piece ... get a stand alone ecu and be done with it...You'll never be sorry for getting rid of the stock ecu garbage...

As for the cable, there damn near the samething.

As for the oil filler neck, I just used a K&N element and shoved it into the hole in which the oil neck use to be.. Rotary engines are pressurized from the bottom so you get no oil coming up to the cap anyway... I run 22psi bosst and have never had a problem....
