FD front rotors

Will the front brake rotors and pads fit from an FD without hassle on an FC?

No

Pads are the same, calipers and rotors are different

what's different about the calipers? they have a different casting but it seems like they are identical otherwise.

They are made for the bigger rotors that the FD has in the front.

Yeah, I know they're bigger, but they wouldn't just bolt straight on? I'm talking about using the rotors, pads, and calipers from an FD.

No, it won't line up or anything, the rotors have a different offset on them for one, and the bracket will be in the wrong position for a larger diameter rotor.

if they would even fit they would hit the caliper, do you not understand what a larger rotor means?

ahhh, i see. i've put them side by side before and they seemed the same. the bolt pattern was the same and everything. but i guess the FD calipers are a slightly different shape for the bigger rotors? or do they sit 'higher', or further away from the center of the hub? i thought the FD hub was what put them further away, not the caliper itself.

WHY?

Rotors? NO.

Calipers? They are the same dimensions.

Pads? They are the same dimensions.

There is NO real advantage to running the FD calipers and brake pads, since they are all basically the same functional equivalent to the 4-pot FC stuff.

all the FD rotors gain is a slightly larger sweeping area for the pad to contact. both calipers are 4 piston and the advantage will be so minimal that you probably wouldnt notice. the TurboII uses 10.9" rotors anyways. upgrading what you currently have will yield better performance results.

The FD rotors are both larger diameter and different offset than the FC. If it would work, you would see a small performance gain, solely because of the greater leverage the caliper would have over the larger diameter rotor. Most of the effectiveness of big brake kits comes from the larger diameter of the rotor, which moves the caliper out, and allows it to exert more leverage. IMagine taking a kid's bicycle and, with it upside down, spinning the back wheel fast. How would it be easier to stop that wheel...grabbing the spokes nearer the center, or grabbing the outside edge? Of course you have more leverage on the outside edge, further away from the center.
