FC's running T66 or T72's??

Just wondering if anyone here has gone this route instead of the old standby T04B/E 60-1...?

If you have, just interested in some feedback.

I think Brian from BNR runs one. It's a big honkin' turbo. One of the Tsomethings, I know it's not a T04.

yeah 66 is big, drag turbo. on the street would be weak. But would haul *** at high rpm's. I think the 66 is good for 475 or so.

ReZ from teamfc3sorg is running his 90 bodied 87 motor with a T66, his car is pretty crazy. Soon maybe i'll run into a t66, but need to find a good place to weld my a manifold that can a t66.

Evil rotor,

T66's are good sized turbo's....and will get you well over the 500rwhp mark ( seen it done) ....T60-1/T04e's will max out around 475-500hp depending on porting and tuning ( important) ...
I have a t60-1 w/ .70 comp and 1.15 A/R and decided on that because of the manifold situation. T66's and T72's require a custom manifold....
I thought about going with a T66 but didn't want to headache of having a manifold made then cracking like I've also seen happen.... Besides I can only fit a 265 tire in the rear, so what good is 500plus hp when you can't hook up? thats something to consider too..

All in all the T60-1/T04e is the perfect "street, auto-x, drag race all purpose turbo" ......In my opinion they spool pretty fast and will get you good rwhp... Lets face it, a T66/T72 turbo'd RX-7 will kill me, but I'm not into drag race only...

Makes sense. That's the reason they are used so often.
I guess once my SR KKK gives up the ghost it'll be a T04E 60-1

I hope I didn't sound like a turbo know-it-all, but I'd just thought I'd pitch my .02

On another hp note, I have the great fortune of knowing a guy from Chicago who has far more knowledge with Wolf EMS stand alone ecu's, and lets just say he knows more than me...... Anyway this guy drove to my house today, ( Minneapolis) from Chicago to help me dial in the ignition timing, etc. and I tell you what, my car is so fast now, it makes me do nothing but laugh We had to stop because the clutch started to slip which sucked but I knew it was coming..... Anyway, if you drove my car with the T60-1 turbo I'm sure you'd like what it does.... Anyway this guy who tuned my car has a 8 second tub'd Turbo II w/ T72 and ran w/ alcohol so lets just say I trusted him......What a guy huh? and his name will remain nameless, but you will hear about him soon if you haven't already....

I have a T66 It's not on yet tho

But I have too agree a 60-1 is the best all around turbo for a FC

I got my Turbonetics T66 for almost the price of a 60-1 hence I went with a T66

as for lag? sure it does not spool till higher RPM's then a 60-1 but I actually like a bit of Lag

I don't like to be boosting all the time when I'm just trying to drive normal

3isacharm: Matt? no....

I'm friends with Kevin ASP Wyum and he has 2-T66 BB's on his FD....WOW! is that a rotary masterpiece. If he ever decides to start running again he'll blow some doors off with that car.....He is one smart guy...Actually he/we ported my motor...

Someday I'll go with a T66..... Brad

I remember him, way back in 95!! His top contender was Adam Sarawutari's FD back then. Does he have a webpage? I know he had a webpage for his Co., but I lost it

3isacharm:

Kevin Wyum's car idles @ 2k w/ bridgeport and I think its 1 or 2 psi/boost @ idle if I remember......Hard to believe I know, but I think I'm right....Its been awhile since I've seen it running...... I do remember how loud it is though WOW! BRAAAP, BRAAAAP, BRAAAAAP...... Did I also mention he has 315's on the rear with no flairs or body kit? and a MoTec ecu....yawn!

WestexasRX7:

No times or confirmed RWHP yet, but the "tuner guy" seemed to think it was around 390-420rwrhp @ 13psi and I could agree.... I use to have a T04B w/ Super V comp and I dyno'd at 330rwhp @ 16psi..the new T60-1 is way stronger at less boost... My data logger said I max'd out at 13.7psi....We were getting ready turn the boost higher (18-20ish) and the clutch started to slip in 3rd...... Man 3rd gear, @ 5-6,500rpm is really a wild ride.
