Like I said, the doors and the rear quarter are what remind me most of an FC, but that's about all

When I was getting new insurance the other day, the lady asked me if it was a 4 cyl. or a 6 cyl. I tried to tell her it was neither, that it had a rotary engine with no cylinders. She just stared at me with this stupid look on her face, so I told her most people consider it a 4 cyl. Hey, atleast it has 4 spark plugs.

Also, the other day at the autocross, while another RX-7 was running, I overheard some rednecks talking near me. I know, it's hard to believe that we have rednecks in Texas, but just follow along with me. I swear I heard one of them say, "Damn that car sure is fast for not having any cylinders." No lie. I just chuckled to myself.

I love it when you say there are no pistons in the engine, they just look at you all dumbfounded like, and i've even had one person ask me if it was an electric car, almost died laughing

Daytona was just another cheap K-car platform that Chrysler pumped out. I rode in one once. Once. Now I wouldn't sit through a stoplight in one.

Hey now! Be careful what you say about Daytona's. I got 'smoked' by one recently. Well, sort of. I was at a stoplight and I heard this car pull up behind me, actually I heard the thumping stereo. Anyway, the light turns green and I take off with this guy tailgating me. At that point I could also hear his 'import' exhaust. So he starts getting agitated because he can't get around me because of the car in the other lane. I guess 40 in a 30 wasn't enough for him. He drops back and accelerates really hard (notice I didn't 'fast') and runs right up on my *** again. This pisses me off and I gestured accordingly. So as soon as he can get past the other car he does so. I got a good look at his car. Dented dark green front clip and a dark purple car. (If you are replacing your front clip, why not get one that isn't damaged?). He gives me a real dirty look, moves ahead and gets right in front of me and slows down. Now, I'm steaming mad and ready to put my car up his soon to be auxiliary sphincter! With him right in front of me I can see the big Dodge decal on the hatch window, a couple of 'tude stickers, and (I love this part) a gay pride sticker. I start to lose my anger and then he floors it again (to make a point and impress me, I guess) and this big cloud of blue smoke pops out his exhaust and my eyes start to water from all the unburned gas spewing out. I lost all my anger and started laughing. I saw he was looking back at me so I waved my hand in front of my nose then held my nose. He got mad or something and took off. Yeah, I got 'smoked' alright!

Oh my god! I know exactly how you feel. I was talking with a 'friend' (i guess you could call him that..) about how I needed a rebuild. He was like "oh whats wrong with it?" I explained about it needing a new apex seal blah blah. He was like "apex seal? dude, theyre called piston rings now. I can rebuild that 4cyl faster than you can drive it". I tried to explain to him how my car didnt have pistons, and it wasnt fwd. I dont see why I try to inform the ignorant

Oh oh, not to mention he tried telling me my turbo was a supercharger, and that turbos ran from a belt drive

Works the drive thru at the burger doodle dont he, that answers your question LOL

They look more like an old Ford Probe if you ask me... They resemble them a lot, and the basuc design follows it too..

I was working on my T2 one day when this dude drives up to my house. He's got a black Hyundai Something , no hood (CAI sticking out over radiator), 15 Volk Racing TE-37's, Huuuuuuuge exhaust, big aluminum wing and bright blue underbody neons. Right on!
He walks up and starts asking questions about my car... what kind is it, what year.... blah blah blah. As he's checking out the engine I get this puzzled look.
"Uh... Doesn't the intercooler get hot sitting on the valve covers like that?" I smiled and took the IC off so he could look at the 'valve-covers'! You've all seen the looks that come next.

The best part was when he was telling me how fast his car was. He 'estimated' about 180 hp (with the 50 shot Naaaaaaws). When I told him that that's what the s4 came with stock all he wanted to do was race. I 'bout laughed my *** off! So he said he'd come back to run me when he dropped a B16 in it. My roomate and I were dying! We still laugh about that ****.

It's sad what people with big shiny exhaust and wings will think their cars are capable of. I've seen quite the few geo metro's thinking they could own anything on wheels, but god damn, with the wings on them I don't know how they kept the front of the car on the ground!

THATS genius. When I mentioned to a couple people I wanted an FC, they were all telling me to get racing cams, adjustable cam gears, Higher compression Pistons.
I just said I'm gonna get a chrome plated Fallopian Tube ,
and muffler roller bearings.

So far, no one has figured it out, and these guys claim they know a lot about cars. ARG!!!

Furious D!

haha, reminds me of a guy with a mustang that came in one day
"what mods you got" i asked
"well i have a turbo at 6psi of boost, i have a supercharger at 10psi of boost, im running a 75shot of NOS, but i kept the stock exhaust because i wanted it to be a sleeper, i bought headers to get more power but keep it quiet so it sounded stock, and the rims, and neon lights, and altezza tails, and that aluminum wing"

i was like "oh thats cool, must be fast..."

it was the hardest thing i could do not to laugh at him, i listened when he drove away, no turbo, no SC, just stock and that big wing and lights lol

Nope. The Daytona/Laser body style came out in 1983 as a 1984 model, whereas the FC (series 4) came out in late 1985 as a 1986 model.

The Daytonas are boxy and have the same dash and many interior bits as the LeBaron, part of Chrysler's attempts to stave off at-the-time imminent bankrupcy. It was intended as a 'sporty' version of their K-car platform, whereas the FC RX-7 was in a completely different class.

80s styling being boxy overall, and the one piece neoprene bumpers having the same vertical join line, comparisons are inevitable - but think of it adding to the 'sleeper' mystique of your FC

And careful - Mopar makes a rear-wheel conversion kit for the Daytona/Lasers so one can replace that 4 banger with a V8 and drive the rear wheels.
